Hi MorphOS Community,

Monotype used to offer a free font package for MorphOS/AmigaOS users - it could be "purchased" for zero USD/EUR and downloaded on a website called www.linotype.com.

It contained 27 styles (selected by yours truly) to give MorphOS users more diverse options for using typography on our beloved OS.

Unfortunately, the website linotype.com was shut down a few weeks ago, as Monotype wants to focus on monotype.com and myfonts.com. I cannot currently move the font package to one of these sites.

But you can of course still get it. Simply email support@monotype.com and ask for the MorphOS Free Font Package. The support team will forward those requests to me, and I will ensure you get the fonts. I will ensure Monotype keeps providing the fonts - and maybe even offers a second package. Stay tuned.

Airsoft Softwair, the unstoppable coding machine, is back on your screen with a massive new Hollywood plugin release: hTeX. hTeX allows you to experience the wonderful world of LaTeX as it makes it possible to use the LaTeX markup language from Hollywood. This makes it possible to easily display mathematical formulas in your Hollywood scripts and Hollywood Designer projects. On top of that, you can also use more advanced LaTeX features like tables, boxes, and finetuned formatting. Finally, hTeX also allows you to export LaTeX formatted text as PDF documents, SVG images, and PNG images.

Using hTeX is very simple and convenient because the plugin directly interfaces with Hollywood's text library so you don't need to learn any new functions but you can just use the functions from Hollywood's text library. As soon as the hTeX plugin is installed, all functions from Hollywood's text library will automatically be able to handle text formatted in LaTeX. hTeX will make the text available to Hollywood as full vector text which means that it can be infinitely scaled, rotated, and transformed without any loss of quality.

Of course hTeX also supports our brand-new Hollywood Designer 7 which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. So after you've installed the hTeX plugin, Hollywood Designer 7 will automatically become a state-of-the-art editor for LaTeX, just take a look at what is possible when using hTeX together with Hollywood Designer 7:

20 years ago, on April 14th 2004, Airsoft Softwair, the hardest working men in code business, released the very first version of Hollywood Designer, the ultimate multimedia authoring system for Hollywood. In the following years Hollywood Designer quickly became the must-have software for all users seriously interested in creating state-of-the-art multimedia applications, be it presentations, slide shows, games, or applications. Pangomonium is a plugin of epic proportions and the first plugin only available for Hollywood 10. Pangomonium contains an ultramodern, state-of-the-art text engine that can be used to draw text in almost any language of the world. On top of that, it also supports advanced text features like fonts with colored glyphs. This finally makes it possible to write programs which support emojis on Amiga! Pangomonium is based on the established Pango and Cairo text and vector graphics libraries and also allows you to access the complete Pango and Cairo function set directly from Hollywood scripts. Of course, there is also a high-level interface which allows you to conveniently draw text without having to delve into Pango and Cairo programming. Pangomonium has been two years in the making and is now finally ready for release exclusively for Hollywood 10.0.

Iris 1.21 is now available from iris-morphos.com.

Iris is now able to view and create calendar invites (ICS).

A new privacy feature makes it possible to view HTML emails without downloading any external content (images, css) that may potentially be used to track/identify the recipient.

Wayfarer 7.4 is now available from auto-update.

This update introduces a reworked settings UI, possibility to fine-tune browser settings per 1st component of a URL path as well as fixes of reported crashes.

RNOEffects is an image processing program focused on alpha channel based effects and batch conversion. Highlights of the new version are the Pixel Editor tool and saving images in the palette mode.

Wayfarer 7.2 is now available, with the WebKit engine just 4 days behind the release of WebKitGTK 2.42.4.

2.42.4 addresses crashes in JavaScript, WebCore and several rendering issues.

Please update using the Check for Update & Autoupdate functionality built into Wayfarer.

This is to announce that bug-fix updates for the APNG and Plananarama plugins for Hollywood have just been released. The APNG plugin for Hollywood adds support for loading and saving PNG animations and Plananarama is a plugin that enables Hollywood to run on non-RTG screens on classic Amigas. Both updates are now available for free download from the official Hollywood portal.

Wayfarer 7.0 is now available for download!

This is the 7th time Wayfarer was rebased to a latest stable WebKitGTK, meaning the MorphOS patches have been re-applied to a new branch. This release also marks the project's 4th anniversary.

This has been the most challenging update so far. Several new endian issues have crept into WebKit, with one of them causing an immediate crash when running JavaScript on big endian CPUs. The removal of some of the WinCairo port has also made it more difficult to maintain the MorphOS port. Many of the code paths that the MorphOS port is using aren't being used by the officially supported ports, which requires additional testing and bug fixing.

With this in mind, please show your support by donating to the project.

Version 7.0 is now available for auto-updating, which is the recommended way of installing updates. Please check the history page for the full list of changes in this release.

Wayfarer 6.6 is now available!

This version updates WebKit to WebKitGTK 2.40.5 (and is likely the last update before Wayfarer 7). This build also works around the issues with PayPal and improves performance on websites that abuse DOM timers (especially with throttling enabled in settings).

We are delighted to inform you that we are organizing the next AmiCamp for 2024, the biggest Amiga event in Greece, which will take place on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th of April 2024. Over the weekend, friends and fans of the Amiga computers are going to get together in a great place to celebrate the best computer in the world, its next generation and its alternative systems.

Wayfarer 6.3 is now out! Changes in this version include:

- Rewritten the audio decoder to use AHI's device interface
- Fixed a bug in the MSE media player where a video that's played till the end could not be replayed
- Fixed a regression when closing tabs
- Fixed a problem with media duration not being correctly reported to the HTMLMediaElement, leading to things like YT's seeking not working or Bandcamp not skipping to the next track
- Checks if Core web fonts are missing and runs WebFontsInstaller when prompted

Libwebp was updated to fix its recent CVEs. sqlite, curl, nghttp2 and psl libraries were also updated to latest versions.

RNOSlides is a GUI based slideshow creator program, that can save slideshows as videos. The program can view saved slideshows, and play videos in various formats. Please check its homepage for screenshots, video demonstration, and download links.

With the 1.17 release Iris becomes The Iris Suite.

The all new Contacts application supports synchronizing contacts from CardDav services, including Google Contacts, iCloud Contacts or any other compatible service like Runbox, Synology, etc. When set up, Iris will link the email addresses to Contacts in order to display any configured photos and other details. Contacts are also used to provide better matches when filling out addresses in To/CC/BCC fields.

Contacts will automatically be installed in the same directory as Iris when you auto-update to 1.17.

AI Kills All Humans is a Tactical RTS game coming from ONE JOYFUL DAY to Modern Amigas in which you play as an AI, which due to a slight change in code, is sending robots to kill all humans.

You however don't have direct control of your robots, but robots independently decide how to execute your commands, like a general telling troops to attack, but troops themselves decide how.

Iris 1.16 is now available from iris-morphos.com. The new version introduces a ton of improvements, optimizations and bug fixes, including faster message list updates and better handling of operations on big numbers of messages. This is also the first version coming with a Polish translation.

Wayfarer 6.0 is now available!

The WebKit core has again been rebased to the latest stable WebKitGTK tree. But that's not all, 6.0 also brings many UI improvements like Bookmark filtering, improved password management, Youtube playback fixes, additional Altivec acceleration and more.

To update from 5.5 simply use the Check for Updates menu function. Wayfarer will then download the new build and auto-update on quit. To update from an older version, manually extract all files from wayfarer.lha into your existing installation.

This is a major update which adds several new features exclusively for users of Hollywood 10. For example, the ZIP plugin now supports Hollywood 10's new filesystem adapter interface which means that you can use functions like DeleteFile() or Rename() directly on files or directories within zip archives. Also, the plugin now makes use of several optimizations offered by Hollywood 10.

The plugin is now available for free download from the official Hollywood portal. NetFS 3.2 was released! This new version improves handling of network drives' disk icon (as well as left out icons on Workbench) which can now be personalized for each mounted drive on each computer. It also includes updated translations (in French, English, German, Spanish, Italian) and a few bug fixes.

NetFS is a network filesystem which supports protection bits, file notes, large files (>4GB), filesystem notifications, data encryption and removable remote medias. It also includes remote AREXX port capabilities, and comes with a comprehensive installer and MUI graphical management tools.

A new vulnerability, CVE-2023-2650, has been identified and fixed for the version of OpenSSL that is included in MorphOS 3.18.

A fixed OpenSSL library will be bundled with a future MorphOS release. Meanwhile, you can install the following replacement openssl3.library that fixes the problem for MorphOS 3.18: Download

To install it, copy the file to MOSSYS:Libs and reboot.

The MorphOS development team is proud to announce the public release of MorphOS 3.18! This new release includes several new applications such as Hex - a scriptable file/RAM/disk hex editor, ArchiveIt - a ZIP archiver/unarchiver application and Thermals - an app displaying thermal and fan information and graphs.

In addition, MorphOS 3.18 supports Samba 2 and 3 network share browsing and mounting in the Ambient desktop.

Radeon drivers have been updated to better support dual monitors, more graphics card models and 3D, including updated TinyGL library and drivers. We have also improved Realtek 8168 ethernet drivers with support for more card variants and enhanced networking stability on PCI express systems like PowerMac G5 11,2. USB input device connectivity issues on supported CyrusPlus 5040 systems have been corrected.

Many other system components and libraries have also been bugfixed and improved, including MUI, Netstack, Filesysbox.
