As a precursor to a more substantial SDK update to be released in the future, the MorphOS Development Team has prepared a package of MorphOS 2.1 system includes for interested third party developers. It was designed as an intermediate drop-in replacement for the os-include part found in the current version of the MorphOS SDK. Regardless of what MorphOS version you develop for, an update is beneficial in any case as the archive includes various fixes and improvements, such as support for the latest release of the VBCC compiler.

In order to use the MorphOS 2.1 system includes, it is suggested to either replace the older archive with this one during a fresh installation of the SDK, or to extract the archive and then replace your os-include directory (Special note: do not simply copy the content). The package can be downloaded here.

A few of you have noticed that a new AmiZilla website was launched recently. The talented artist that created it did a great job. AmiZilla has been a catalyst for change in the Amiga marketplace and an inspiration to all. AmiZilla shocked the Amiga market and even received wide press on Slashdot, Mozilla forums and many other news sites when it was launched in 2003. Many were caught off guard that an Amiga effort could bring in over $10,000 in donations, the Amiga is suppose to dead right? The Amiga is not dead, the AROS Bounty system, MorphZone Bounties and many other bounty systems were all inspired by AmiZilla and went on to collect thousands of dollars. DiscreetFX did not consider this competition to AmiZilla, in fact we embraced it and put lots of money into AROS Bounties, MorphZone Bounties and many others. The small community that is Amiga proved that it was not giving up and it was willing to pay for quality software to be ported to the Four Headsmen of Amiga.

IMMEDIATE RELEASE : DiscreetFX Announcement

Open Video Toaster Instant Bounties

Chicago, Illinois ? July 14th, 2008 -- Visual FX company DiscreetFX LLC Inc., in order to stimulate development for the Video Toaster Flyer source code DiscreetFX is launching an Instant Bounty contest. What is an Instant Bounty? This is a bounty that is paid once a programmer has requested and been assigned a programming task for Open Video Toaster. This does take a little trust on our part since bounties are paid before coding even begins. Programmer past developments and applications will be taken into serious consideration and help gain them approval for OVT Instant Bounties. Programmers should review source code for the bounty in question before applying for consideration. Each development task for OVT will have set guidelines and coding time limits. <span style="font-weight: bold;">(Read more...)</span>

Beta versions of prism2.device and etherlink3.device (a replacement for 3c589.device) that support PCMCIA cards under AmigaOS4 and MorphOS are now available for download. Thanks must go to Chris McGonagle for testing several versions of the OS4 drivers on a PPC-equipped A1200 as I don't have such hardware.

Be sure to install the provided 68k pccard.library in LIBS:. Further information about installation, compatible cards and contact details can be found in the older prism2 and 3c589 archives on Aminet.

Download here. Please report successes as well as failures - I need to know if the software is ready for a full release.
