The weekend before last the Amiga Future homepage was hacked two times.

The good thing about it was that we have discovered the security issue and fixed it.

A new update of libnix has been released for MorphOS. Changes include:
  • stdio init no longer reads off bounds memory if __stdiowin is set to "" (it is still not valid to do so, though (read SAS/C docs)).
  • strcoll/xfrm won't pull in libauto/external LocaleBase any more.
  • mbstowcs/wcstombs behaves properly when destination is NULL (they are still dummies, however, so do not expect widechar to work).
  • no more semaphore lockups that could occur in certain situations (thanks to HAK for finding such a situation!)

Update of the Just-In-Time Compiler for MorphOS 1.4.5

A new version of the Just-In-Time Compiler TRANCE has been released. The changes since the previous release are:

  • Fixed a bug that would make certain IBrowse CPU versions crash (at least IBrowse 2.3 and 2.4)
  • Some SAS/C float/double integer calculation fixes (lsd/asd X flag). For example, the integer version of IBrowse's javascript.library.
  • addx/subx with predecrement was fixed. These instructions are very rare, but could be used for some multiprecision math.
  • Trancestats has been updated to work properly with the latest MUI versions.

The MorphOS Team wishes everyone Happy Holidays and a Great New Year!

It's that time of the year again, some celebrate Festivus or Kwanza, some get to build snowmen and others throw shrimps on the barbie and surf at the beach. The Aminet team however, spend the season working for you, always trying to improve Aminet. This is what has happened since last time...

Olaf Barthel write:

I'm currently working on an update which I hope will be ready before Christmas this year. This update fix several bugs, adds a bunch of new features and I also hope to address all the enhancement requests and bug reports posted in this forum.

If there's still something bothering you about what CygnusEd does, please let me know now. Maybe I can still fit it into the update

The official MorphOS PowerUP registration server has been successfully updated. After a series of test runs, it is now fully functional and open for public use again.  If you run MorphOS on PowerUP hardware and have not registered your copy for free, you may do so now to disable the 2 hour time limitation.

Marcin Kurek has released GCC 4.0.1 for MorphOS. His work is based on the GCC 4.0.1 port from Emmanuel 'Emm' Lesueur. It was synchronized with the more recent 4.0.3 with some additional fixes from the SVN repository. The package contains the compiler, a recent version of the binutils package, and an updated libnix version which was specifically adapted to work with GCC4.
