Archive : : GCC 4.0.3 was ported to MorphOS
Posted By: ASiegel. on 2006/11/12 19:09:08

Marcin Kurek has released GCC 4.0.1 for MorphOS. His work is based on the GCC 4.0.1 port from Emmanuel 'Emm' Lesueur. It was synchronized with the more recent 4.0.3 with some additional fixes from the SVN repository. The package contains the compiler, a recent version of the binutils package, and an updated libnix version which was specifically adapted to work with GCC4.

I'll just make it perfectly clear right now, any future complaints about broken SDK setups (due to nuked libnix, broken includes, wrong resident binaries or whatever) need to be accompanied by a signed affidavit that you never tried installing GCC4... ;)

I'd also like to suggest that software releases henceforth include a Quality Assurance stamp that indicates which version of GCC it has been compiled
    with. :P

so it's not an "Official"/"mos-team quality checked" version of Gcc ??

Or it's like an update sdk not "checked or validated" from the TEAM?(usefull but not 100% guaranteed)

In other words it's usable ,with maybe a limited help for the enduser/programmer from the MOSTEAM or it's released only for the compile of the LGPL parts of sputnik??

No, not at all (there's a reason Emm's version (which this one is based on) was never publically released).

IMO it's not even useful (not to mention it can easily fuck up your SDK (and the programs you compile)), but bah, whatever... ;)

There's absolutely none, zero, zilch, nil, nada support for this compiler from the MorphOS Team, if you want help I suggest you bug Morgoth (</evil>) .. and yes, I suppose the reason it was made public was to aid the compilation of webcore (although it does compile with GCC2 too with a little help)...

I think it can be useful in the process to port something. :)
