itix, I believe it is true. I'm sur all legal aspect will be covered soon and Genesi will annouce it. But don't forget Mos still needs lot of developement. Some minimum requierement will be asked and development planned. It won't arrive in one day.
But when this happen can you imagine, we'll surely have update every semester ;)
    Let's keep thinking positif !

As long as there is no confirmation by that "major IT company" it is just vapor.

I dont know. But MOS is far away now from selling it to normal users. Maybe with 1.5 it will change.

You're right, but think of embeded, industrial system. Mos can fit in lot of solution today !

I disagree with the mainstream thinking here. There are 3 major players: OSX, Windows and Linux. But there are thousands of operating systems.

If you make it clear that it's a small operating system (and believe me: MOS is tiny) it can even be an advantage.

I think there is a whole heap of features and applications required to compete with the big players - but to present MorphOS as a slim standalone product only a few gaps has to be filled. (like TCP-IP and a few tiny bits) There were things out in the wild with far worse browsers than Voyager :-)

So the situation is not that grim dark, methinks.

My question is has Genesi dropped MOS?
Why is the Beta2ML down, why 1.5 take so long?

    And what does it mean?

BBRV: Today MorphOS only works with the Pegasos, so as step one we could offer 1.5 (when it is done which could be a year away).

Neko: MorphOS at some point needs to start making it's own money on it's own terms...

Is the ML really down? Anyone sends a test mail? I can't while being at work...

For the rest of things I really would appreciate to hear a statement by the MOS developers.

The release of Mos 1.5 is taking longer than expected but I'm sure we'll have very cool feature. Developement takes time ;)

Well, if it IS true, why announce it so early as MOS1.5 will take another year to mature. I'd say thats 9-10 months too early.. unless it was about reselling 1.4, which I'm quite sure is not the case here.

Yes, it is. I was told it would seem to be just a temporary problem. To be sure, I sent an e-mail to Henes this morning, though, but got no reply yet.

Didn't I read here a while ago about MOS1.5 showing at some party?
I could be wrong (getting older each day :-))

Oh well, like our OS4 friends did for so long: just wait and see, it's worth it :-)

    @Senex: yes, it is broken.

=> I have suggested to the webmaster of morphos-news.de (and henes btw) to submit a newsitem about it to avoid this kind of questions...

Result: it's still not repaired and people are still discovering/asking about it...

    Leo.

I believe that "MorphOS1.5" is a work in progress. The (at that point) current state of the OS has been showed at some occasion, but a lot of things may have been changed, added - and also removed(!) - since then. It may actually be too early to speak about "the features of MorphOS 1.5" until it's actually released, because until that point, lots of things can (and probably will) happen. The silence until the release point gives freedom to the developers to develop without having to explain why the end result didn't exactly match the earlier announced features. At least, this is my view of it! ;-)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

Timo, I don't like this kind of joke! you are lucky I'm not cardiac :-D
I don't understand why people are so impatient. You know how long it take MSFT to release new version will all the developer they have ? Mos is free so we can't ask them so much in a very short time.
let's see what is in Mos 1.5. then will see what critic app are missing. The best will be a news release from Mos team saying all improvment theyare working on.
The world wasn't built in one day, same thing for Mos ;)

Yes. It was shown at PUSH 2004 held by PUGS at Pegasos.org.

If you go to the 'Events' section you will find picture galleries from our Party.

The feature list shown on big screen have been censored at Bigfoot's and
CISC's request. However, some Norwegian posted them all uncensored somewhere.

    Of course, it is true.

But, there are bigger issues than sometimes seem to be missed by some of our users in this community. You might want to read this article that appreared in the New York Times this morning.

Our focus is to find the right fit for MorphOS were its features and ability are more attractive than other alternatives. On this, we have never stopped working. When we understand the opportunity for MorphOS fully then we can concentrate the development on what is important. It will happen. The issue is just when.

In the meanwhile, we are working on ways to draw attention to MorphOS as it is. Fortunately, there is at least one very favorable situation happening now.

    R&B :-)
