    Hi All,

I am new to the MorphOS world. Sorry if I come across as an annoying newbie. But, I have become very excited about amiga for the first time in a while since reading all about MorphOS 2.0. I am really interested in buying an Efika board and running 2.0 on it.

I cannot seem to find any discussion or announcements about actual status or any guestimated ETAs. Anyone got anything like that?

    Thanks!

    Dave

I'm tired of ppl telling me "there are screenshots out there"

First off 80% of them are CRAP photos. Second, they dont show anything. Same as the vids. Contrary to what everyone seems to think here there is very little real "professional" screenshots or vids of "2.0" anywhere..

    Hi Itix

    Quote:

Multiview supports Unicode and can display both Unicode text files (UTF-8/16/32)

Does this mean "simple" support like mapping charsets with codesets.library or does this mean decoding and font rendering of any character (using a suitable Unicode font) ?

Is there any additional support within MorphOS for Unicode in 2.0 ?

    Thanks

Hahaha guys mos "2.0" is a moving target. Lets hope it makes the date. If not what shall we do? Hang the devs from their testicles in their respective european cities? that would make interesting news. Maybe hang signs around their necks like "Amiga pnws" or something..

You have a full grasp of the obvious man, i was joking. But seriously, its not Apple here if they miss their release target no surprise, no big deal. Its already late by years so another month wont matter.

As far as other os - outside of specialized apps there is no reason now for an avg user not to use linux for everyday computing...

Damn Linux still sucks, we are in 2008 and you still got to tweak the prefs of the system in a shell, c'mon how outdated is that.
And i have no Problem to wait one or two weeks more for M2 but i am not ready to wait a half year longer, then i am out for Mac!
And if something isn't ready yet in M2 take it out and make a 2.0.1 release like with MOS 1.4.5

Linux Sux, thats my personal opinion.

Now and then, i wonder myself if this site should be renamed to "linuxzone", or linux lovers

I have said it before, and I will say it again.

I very much doubt MorphOS 2.0 will be out this year.
    2009, at the earliest.

Ofcourse (since there are tons of new and extended APIs (there are also several updates to the development-tools themselves)), but wrapping it all up will be delayed until some time after I get back from summer-vacation...

Strip away the GUI's and all other bloated mumbo jumbo and it becomes a great OS to have on your servers though! :-)

Discussions about Linux on Genesi HW (or in general) should go here: Powerdeveloper.org.

That said, I can't claim that I'm particularly bothered by the amount of Linux discussions on this site...

Hey, if you only manage to wrap up the OS distribution itself on time I think everyone will understand and wait patiently, and you can go on your vacation relaxed and come back with new energy! :-)
