    Hello everybody,

    I've played some more with MLDonkey and enqueueTorrent.
    Followed exactly the installation steps of MLDonkey and enqueueTorrent.

    I get exactly the same results as klapdeur did have at the beginning!
    When starting up IBrowse I see nicely the same "GUI" as in the picture of tokai.
    But giving the command vm give as result:

    Quote:

    --- Connected to 3 servers on the Donkey network ---
    [Donkey 2192] 217.225.215.150:4661
    Users:0 Files:0 State:Connecting
    [Donkey 2328] 62.204.106.46:4662 Donkey Control Server
    Users:0 Files:0 State:Connecting
    [Donkey 2958] 80.136.41.171:4661
    Users:0 Files:0 State:Connecting
    --- Connected to 0 servers on the FileTP network ---

    As I also installed and configured enqueueTorrent in IBrowse I tried that option with pressing the right mousebutton on a "torrent-link".
    The only message was that it did send it to MLDonkey.
    Tried the command: dllink http:...torrent (as Targhan said in this thread)
    This gives "done" as answer.

    What interests me is that in the CLI-window of MLDonkey I see:
    Quote:

    ...
    ...
    Network.load_complex_options not implemented by BitTorrent
    Network.load_complex_options not implemented by FileTP
    ...
    ...
    Error loading ./comments.met: Sys_error("./comments.met: No such file or directory")
    enable
    enabling...
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    Network.recover_temp not implemented by BitTorrent
    Network.recover_temp not implemented by FileTP
    ...
    ...

    Furthermore it overwrites the settings I made in downloads.ini and servers.ini.
    This is normal?

    @klapdeur:
    You wrote you're able to download .torrent files now?
    How did you accomplish that?

    Thanks,

    Spidey

    AHA!!! I was able to reproduce the mldonkey don't work error!! Since I had a lost harddrive, and re-installed things (in a different order, naturally) I ended up installing mldonkey rather early. It didn't work. The answer:

    mldonkey requires the SDK!

    @Timofonic

    Didn't have a look at it yet, but something like this seems to have been released earlier this year by Attention-Software (look at the "news" section).

    @Targhan

    Great - so finally the mystery has been solved. Thanks a lot!

    Thanks for the link bas.

    Problem is that you have to register, and I don't want to register because I'm no developer.

    I just tried the servers.ini-file provided by klapdeur and I got now 3 servers connected!
    But still no luck when trying to search something.
    I don't get any results.

    Bye,

    >I don't see the file in the Incomming-dir.

    it should be in the temp folder
    (and is a folder itself)

    Just to point out the obvious
    You can see what you are downloading by typing
    "vd" (telnet) or pressing "Downloads" (webinterface)

    ok thats strange, downloaded files should be in incomming/BT/...

    and the .torrent file(contains info about the shared files and how to get it) in torrents/downloads

    Hmm,

    Tried to download ".torrent"-files again with "dllink" and "dllinks".
    I only get a "Done" and that's it!

    Perhaps something to do with the torrents.ini-file?

    This is how mine looks like (this should be the standard ini-file that came with MLDonkey):

    (* The port to bind the client to *)
    client_port = 6882

    (* The subdirectory of temp/ where files should be moved to *)
    commit_in_subdir = BT

    (* The UID of this client *)
    client_uid = G3S4OZKLN6HV664RBXTSSTW2FPBQU2WA

    (* The prefix which is appended to options names
    when they are used in the telnet/WEB interfaces *)
    options_prefix = "BT-"

    (* The port to bind the tracker to *)
    tracker_port = 6881

    (* Ask the tracker for new sources only if you have fewer than that number of sources *)
    ask_tracker_threshold = 20
    old_files = []

    (*
    The following options are not used (errors, obsolete, ...)
    *)

    In the MLDonkey-dir, I have a Torrents-dir with in that the dirs: downloads, seeded, tracked

    None of them contain something.

    Bye,

    looks like the default setting to me.

    But I tried something. When I put the Networkinterface in miami off and add a torrent.
    I get the same you described.
    maybe the tracker of the the files you try to download are offline?

    Hi weiseb,

    To see a torrent-file in "Downloads" I have to:

    - Do a normal browser-download with the torrent-file
    - In MLDonkey give the command: "dllink {path on harddisk/torrent-file}"

    As you see I'm using the URL command in MLDonkey, whereas I used all the time the "dllinks"-command.
    (in the description it states this is for file-download). Apparantly I got confused of using which command :-)

    How can I enable the right tracker?
    Everytime I start MLDonkey and look at the connected servers, I see 3 to 4 connected servers (but not the same ones each time)

    @weiseb and everybody:
    Thanks for being patient with me :-D

    I think you are mixing up too things.
    mldonkey supports different networks.

    The servers you see when choosing "connected servers" (vm in telnet) are not BT Servers.
    but you can determine what kind of server it is by looking at the first column.
    should be something like:

    donkey or fasttrack(Kazaa).

    These networks use servers you can connect to and search for files. The donkey-servers hold the information how to get the files for EVERY file in the complete network.
    BTW it makes not much sense to connect to 4 donkey-servers at once like mldonkey does, because they all (should) have the same information.

    BitTorrent works different. The .torrent file has the information about the file(s) (name, checksum)
    AND the info about where the tracker is.

    The tracker has the info who else has the files
    but does NOT KNOW about OTHER TRACKERS.

    So every person/group/company that intitially shares files has its own tracker.

    Hi weiseb,

    Thanks for the info :-)

    How can I see my personal bt-tracker?
    I only see the Donkey-servers when trying to download a bt-file (this bt-file shows up in the "Downloads"-section).

    >How can I see my personal bt-tracker?

    AFAIK there is no mldonkey command for that.

    But if you realy want to know if the tracker is online you can open the .torrent (in /torrents/downloads)
    there sould be an url like http://jadajada.org:6969
    you can open this with your browser.

    Yeah, everyone is wayting for a GUI.
    Me has never been able to use MLDonkey due to the lack of a GUI... :-p
    The only thing I have been able to do with the current versions of MLDonkey with no GUI has been to trash part of my DATA partition :-(
