All of them at the stand being part of the team and MorphOS betas being labeled as 3.18 sind a day or 2 after the 3.17 release.....

Skipped this one and sofar I have only seen a video with them having it running on some PuP Amigas (guess the same as on the last show).

I just came back from the event and Charlie talked about some nice new features which will be included some time later in MorphOS. The most important one for me was the development of a new Warp3D wrapper called tinyrave, which will enable classic Warp3D support on all available rave3d compatible cards.

It is also planned to integrate USB 3.0, but it'll need a complete overhaul of the interrupt handling mechanism of MorphOS

I guess this should read "TinyGL-compatible cards", not "rave3d compatible cards". I suspect the tinyrave.library to be a Rave3D wrapper for TinyGL, which in turn allows Goa3D to run. Please do correct if my assumption is wrong.

    Nice.

Exactly. Couldn't frame it better. So games like Heretic2, Wipeout2097 and old PPC Demos will run on MorphOS with G5 HD Radeon cards f.e.

But Charlie didn't want to speculate whether or not it'll be ready for 3.18, but it'll come.

Regarding USB3.0. As far as I understood it is mandatory as an ISA switch (there are rumors it could be Ryzen, but its still not decided yet) will require USB3.0 to be supported. Without USB3.0 you can't get no mouse or keyboard working, even when you attach USB2.0 or 1.1 devices. It has something to do with the USB3.0 mode that has to be fully supported in order to activate its legacy protocols.

PPC-Emu in the likes of Trance for 68k will be an integral part of the new MorphOS, so PPC software will still run on the new architecture.

    @ Cego

Sounds nice. Seems there is some plan/path that is followed. Although we all would like to have all this stuff (new 3D, usb3, x64!,...) at best yesterday, patience is still needed and should be given. But it's very encouraging to hear from time to time that progress is made and some kind of plan actually gets pursued.
MorphOS team delivers and probably continues to do so!

Don't know what "G5 HD Radeon cards" are (first Radeon HD cards were released in 2007 and there's no PPC ROM for any), but "HD Radeon" cards (HD2350 to HD7670, HD8350 to HD8490, R5 210 to R5 310) will require bigfoot's R600 driver project to be finished first, right? So, TinyRave will benefit TinyGL-supported R300 to R500 (Radeon 9500 to X1950) before this.

As I know, modern Ryzens ( for example Ryzen 9) still have one native USB 2.0 connection for legacy firmware compatibility. It is enough to boot with keyboard. And southbridge often have his own USB2.0. So it is no showstop.

Of course, there can be other serious reason for 3.0. Or simply it is good idea have at least USB3.0, SATA3 and PCIe NVMe support with fast CPU.

OOh, that would be great! Tower 57 is a fantastic game. I wish more people would buy it, as it's really polished and fun!

There were at least five of us there if I recall that right. And some Ambient-Panel-Guy. :D

Too bad I could not make it this year. Looked like a great show. The new location seems to be more open and less dense.

That's because they were hanging about the MorphOS Team stand, of course ;-)
