Yes, as a graphician and working on a game project, I have to admit that I use a PC with photoshop to do the gfx :-(.

The reason is that no Amiga gfx software has the features I need :
    - good and very handy alpha channel support
    - good layer managment

I try every amiga GFX software and none have these features :-(...

And one day, I read in a thread someone talking about Pixel32... I tryed it and it is a very nice software and a portable one ! Now I definitively need it and the team seems to be very open.

So please BBRV, can you try to persuade them to make a MOs version, I'm sick of using windows :-((

    Hi LorD!

I've already sent an email to the author about that.

I ask him to at least compile Pixel32 for Linux PPC.
But it would be fast to make a port because Pixel32 is using the SDL
    (but maybe not very fast).

Nevertheless, it seen to be very portable as it works on many OS.

    Bye
    MorphOS Rulez !

    thanks a lot Nico :-)

I read the site and saw that the main difficulty would be the pascal compiler, but they are developping free pascal at the same time which is also portable... notice I'm not a programmer :-p

Anyway I hope it will be ported !

actually, ImageFX (versions 3 to 4.5) have great layer tools and alpha support.

IFX Lite has been made for MorphOS and will be included with future Superbundles (as i understand it)

We showed it at the recent washington DC show.

I don't think that lack of Pascal compiler is a problem. There is a
Pascal-to-C source code translator, so porting shouldn't take to much
time even when the resulting source code would need some changes and
    improvements.

AFAIK, you will never be able to paint with imageFX in order to do
games GFX... it is a nice soft to make special effects, but it is very
expensive and the GUI is far from being intuitive...

You won't like to hear this, but when you compare the features ... probably yes. IFX at Vesalia costs 255 EUR. Add another hundred and you can get a full-featured Photoshop 7 for it ...

Between ImageFX and TVPaint you can
    do virtually anything. ImageFX does
some awesome batch processing, layers, alpha
and effects plus you can use thousands of
PhotoShop filters through the FXForge. TVPaint
works nice for direct painting and allows you to
work on 3 layers at a time. I find ImageFX to be
quite unequalled on any platform but it does take
time to learn of course. Both good game dev tools
and complement each other nicely. FXPaint is quite
nice too and still being actively developed. But
if you prefer Pixel32 for whatever reason, it does
seem likely to appear since it is somewhat portable.

    :)

if you have linux working on your systems, you CAN use GIMP - which is free. I like it, it's a lot nicer to work with than Photoshop.

btw, i have a few articles
on how to use ImageFX. the "newest" ones are for ver 4.5, but there are some, like the color curves article, that apply to any image processing program.

another point: as a professional artist, i have and still use a great variety of programs to get my work done. there really is no such thing as a 'one-fits-all' program.

Thank you for trying to persuade me in using ImageFX or other
solutions but I perfectly know what I need and I never intall Luinux
on mly Peg, I support the peg only for MOS. Anyway, I found no GFX
software on Amiga managing Alpha like Photoshop (or The Gimp, or
Pixel320, or Pixia) does and I really NEED that to do a decent work.

Imagefx is fine, as I said, to do special effects, combine pictures,
etc... but definitively not to do games gfx for exemple and I'm not
the only one thinking we really need a more powerfull software like
Pixel32 or The Gimp (even if I don't really like it) for Morphos.

I'm according with you Lord, We need a GFX program working in a most standard interface. Pixel32 seems to be a photoshop clone. I'm a technicien in a video broadcast enterprise. It's me to choose wich new computers I'll install, but I cant force people to use a program like ImageFX or ArtEffect because they are milles away of standard photoshop. If we have Pixel32, maybe i'll could convice the BOSS to buy a pegasos. :-D He is a hold amiga user ;-)

I think someone is already workng on the pascal compiler.
We should motivate him alittle bit more to get it finished.

while i find certain things about the IFX GUI to be annoying, Photoshop's interface sucks. it's not intuitive at all! I hate it and it's the worse one I've ever seen!
    GIMP is much better.

I say, yes, improve the interfaces of all programs, but DON'T try to imitate photoshop!
I may be forced to shoot myself!!!

    @Cecilia :
It is exactly what I used to say before intensively use Photoshop.. and in fact Photoshop has a very intuitive interface (up to V5, latest versions are quite disturbing sometime), layers and alpha channel are very handy to manage

    USE:
    -imagefx 4.5
    -tvpaint
    -fxpaint
    (the wonderfull combination)

ImageFX has nice and intuitive interface. Photoshop has pretty decent too.
It just depends which one you are used to - their 'philosophy' is totally different.

IFX is very good for doing gfx in 1:1, on photoshop its hard to have fullscreen 1:1 preview. OTOH on IFX its not that easy to operate on many images at time... bla bla.. porting pixel32 is good idea anyway :)
