Frank, what's still stopping you from adding the iMac G5 to the official supported hardeware list? To my recognition none of the iMac users reported real issues. Except the fan thing which seems to affect only some users and can get fixed by the fan control program .
I am pretty satisfied with my iMac G5. 3.15 runs fine on it.

Well, maybe for MorphOS 3.16. We typically don't add additional hardware support for bug-fix updates. The main reason iMac G5 isight isn't officially supported is that there are plenty of other iMac G5 variants that don't work at all to run MorphOS, so you basically are on your own to look one up that works.

Speaking of smooth experience, starting with MorphOS 3.15, the released installation hdimg - dubbed #?hybrid.hdimg for this reason - can be booted via USB stick on various supported Apple hardware if you dump the raw image to some USB stick directly and modify the boot device in OF via

    Code:
    setenv boot-device ud:,\\:tbxi

If it can't find a related USB device, it should fall back to HD/CD boot automatically. It will take a while until it times out on iMac for example but rather useful if you quickly need to boot from a MorphOS live image and don't have a CD at hand or your CD drive is already starting to act up.
We will provide some more detailed information about this new installation feature at some later point.
If you are already using a more complex boot menu or modified the boot process otherwise, this is probably less appealing.
Unfortunately, the USB stick won't show up in the graphics boot menu which would make it even simpler but it seems Apple decided not to support that early boot feature back then.

Since non of those can run MorphOS out of the box I doubt that ever to happen.

Isn't this the same as with eMac and PowerBook G4?

? All I changed was my video card, and my quad is running MorphOS fine (I still need a network or wireless card). 8 GBs of memory (w/ >6 going to waste), but no problem leaving it all in place. I did have trouble trying to install a CMI based audio card and a SiI3132 PCI Express SATA controller card, but I'll try those again now that I have it running.

Not enough expansion slots and they are too close together (wide video cards cover the nearby slot).

Hi there, why does the G5-20" work and the G5-17" 1,9Ghz (x600pro) not?
What hardware is the problem on the 17" model? Thx

There are subtle changes between the models and even production runs of the same model. We've had enough of the hardware to look into the 20" but not the 17".

So far very elegant and nice experience with MorphOS 3.15 and Crysalis, thanks to everyone involved.

Yes, support (unofficial) for the 17" A1144 would be useful. I can get good buys on these, and I'd like to avoid rebuilding the coolant system on my G5 quad for awhile.

Get some of those and send at least one to MorphOS team - then there might be a chance ...The only reason there is unofficial support for the 20" isight one is that I got hold of one quite some years ago and didn't want to keep it in the closet forever ...

But seriously, we have plenty of machines supported already. We really don't have plans to expand the range even further. While it looks like some machines are just a (down)scaled version of some other model, it doesn't always scale that well on the software side of things and needs considerable effort to add support.

There is no need to disconnect the speaker. Just open MorphOS Preferences/Sound and set the "Startup sound" volume to 0.

An adapter like this could work with Morphos?
For a matter of space I need to use the PC monitor
The issue will work on Morphos and above all the Mac monitor if I connect an external monitor will turn off?
Has anyone tried to do it?
    Let me know, thanks

That adapter came with the iMac when it was new, so it for sure should work.

I do have one on mine and use a 2nd monitor with it under MorphOS but I'm not 100% sure what you want.

You can define2 screens and have certain apps open on the 2nd one (like I do)

You can force Ambient onto the external display and leave the builtin unused (or use that as 2nd display)

There is AFAIK no way to make both screens show the same screen (mirror) with MorphOS

If you want to use it under OSX in anything but mirror mode you need to apply a firmware patch.

the mac would go behind the pc monitor because i don't have space on the desk
if I connect a second monitor to the mini vga socket, the main monitor of the mac TURNS OFF? can you turn it off?

    I have a 20 inch isight imac g5
I don't have much space in my workstation the only solution would be to put it behind the LCD TV
If I connect the mini vga socket to my pc monitor that I use every day, would morphos work?
Could it work if I unplug the imac lcd monitor by unplugging the connectors?
Using the mini vga of course
In theory it should behave like a laptop
    Has anyone tried this?
