    "MorphOS has almost 2000 registered/licensed users."
    http://www.amiga.org/forums/showpost.php?p=638063

    Could you please update the graph to show that sudden and unexpected increase (and pretend "users" to equal licenses of course)? And be it only to counter that graph somewhat.

    ;-)

    @stephen_robinson:

    Can I add your reg number to the graph? What would be the date of your registration?

    The graph itself has been updated a little (and - as pampers suggested, the "reduced price time" is marked green).

    Of course.

    If anyones interested, I've got licenses for:
    1 Peg 2, still used, like today.
    2: Efika, yeah... I'll probabably sell this soon, as it's, well, nice and quiet, but..
    3: 1.42 MacMini sold on eBay, I don't know if the new user is actually using MorphOS, I did ask him a couple of times if he needed any help with MorphOS or anything, but I got nothing back.
    3: 1.5 Macmini, used sometimes.. Increased CPU speed is irrelevant, but the 64mb of video Ram is nice, alas this one runs a bit hot and the fan speeds up more than I'd like.
    4: Dual 1.42 PowerMac.  8-)

    So when people talk about MorphOS registration + number of users, I dunno how true that is..

    @stephen_robinson

    /me has registered 4 MorphOS machines over the time (Peg2 G3, Peg2 G4, Mac mini G4 and Powermac G4), of which only one machine is left here in my possesion (the Powermac G4 and an EFIKA in the query for a new license). I think you can half the amount of licenses to get the real number of users, some have only one machine, whereas others have two/three or more machines. The future release of the Powerbook version also will have some impact on this phenomenon, in my opinion.

    An amplifying impact or a mitigating impact?

    Err. no. There's no way of getting back the registration date, or number (short of doing some work going through eMails..And I'm very lazy) and to be honest, they're probably listed in this thread above someplace.

    Uh-huh. Seems like this

    Quote:

    you wrote in post #200 gives me exactly nothing (or, to be precise - I can mark it on the graph somewhere between 29.04.2011 and yesterday).

    P.S. Luckily I use YAM for my e-mails, so that I can filter my Inbox by Subject or Sender - when I fill the string with "morphos support" YAM displays me exactly what I want within miliseconds (damn, looks like I'm lazy too).

    I've also got one for 28 June 2009, but I'm not sure what number that is. Pretty sure it was number 538 for my Efika, so the Peg 2 one was before that, but unless I've put the reg number/date on this thread somewhere, my eMail records don't seem to go that far back.

    Edited to add, it's on post 15 of this thread.

    Also, I'm looking forward to registering a Powerbook version later this year, and my Quad g5 PowerMac with PCIe RadeonX1900 graphics in 2016 , or something... ;-)

    Nice specs for your MorphOS machine Kronos.

    How are all of you finding these dual 1.8GHz G4 machines? I have only seen one auction for such a machine on eBay over the last couple of years.

    I guess I have not been looking hard enough (plus I am not willing to pay a high price for getting a fast dual G4 accelerator for my MDD PowerMac, and almost all of the fast G4 accelerators are made for the QuickSilver PowerMac model, not my 1.25GHz MDD).

    I am more interested in getting MorphOS2.x on my 1.67GHz G4 PowerBook than getting an accelerator for a G4 PowerMac anyway, so I won't stress about increasing the speed of my G4 PowerMac. It runs MorphOS2.x fast enough to satisfy my needs.

    An eventual release of MorphOS for the G5 PowerMac & iMac will also make me very happy, some day (I hope) probably in the distant future.

    @amigadave

    Dunno, when I accidently stumbled over that one I was actually bidding on another (single) 1.8GHz on sale buy the same guy.
    Did some extra search and came up with an 1.8 Cube (which I didn't bother with despite knowing it might work, as i think the Cube is hideously ugly).

    Got outbid at 170 for the single 1.8 soI threw in my hat at the dual (more for the fun of it) ended up winning it at 150......
    (was local pickup only, might explain the price)

    Had to invest another 60Euro in fans (5 !!!) and a controller to make the thing bearable (might still replace that PSU though).

    Doesn't mean I don't have 3 PBs (5.6 5.7 and 5.9 all 1.67GHz) an iMacG5 and a DualG5 waiting here just in case  :-o

    3rd party CPU cards that work with the Quicksilver usually are compatible to the Digital Audio, Gigabit Ethernet and AGP Graphics models as well.

    Done that (full passive PSU that refused to work with both Pegasos2 and my old Amithlon-system) and wow ..... had to reopen the case to check wether the remaining 4 fans were spinning at all .....

    Acill,

    Your link was for a search, and it turned up zero results, so what ever you saw as an accelerator for the MDD from Sonnet was either a mistake that was corrected by the auction seller, or it has already sold with a Buy it Now option.

    Since I have never seen a 1.6GHz, or 1.8GHz G4 accelerator for a MDD model, I am wondering how many were ever made? Manufacturing accelerators for the Quicksilver and previous G4 models that are compatible with that design gives the manufacturer a much larger group of computers that can use their accelerators and a bigger incentive to upgrade, since the original speed of those models was significantly lower than the MDD models.

    @Kronos,

    Congrats on making your PowerMac less noisy, or almost silent. I want to do the same thing to my MDD G4 PowerMac if I am going to keep it, as I don't use it much due to the excessive noise.

    The link did work and was for a dual-G4 at 1.8GHz specifcly for the MDD. Free shipping from China 299$.....
    Same shop also had (single ??) 1.8 Sonnet for QS and older a for 263$ (which I consider still to pricey).

    So yeah they do exist but rare a nice smelling farts :-o

    /me would have prefered a MDD both for looks and the tech, but at 1.4 max it would have feelt like a downgrade.

    From Acill's link choose "Completed listings" on the left and you find this auction:

    Money well spend in my opinion and I think it will keep it's value good enough and will easy resell when MorphOS works on G5 powermacs ( if ever )
