It doesn't work but I won't try it again. I have no patience for it anymore.
I opened the txt file on MorphOS but there is no option to edit it.
Then I edited it on MacOS and copied it on MorphOS and it still quits when I press the "a" buton

I tried installing Wazp3d but that didn't work either.
I renamed wazp3d.library and copied it to the Mossys/libs directory and the wazp3d prefs to the prefs directory but I don't know what else I should do?
I'm looking to see if I can find a video of the installation.

You mentioned you had an Amiga in the past?
And still you don't know the C:Ed program?
    Interesting.

It's been over 10 years since I used an Amiga!

I'm not sure what works and what doesn't on MorphOS anymore.
I think I'm looking for an Amiga or Amiga compatible machine that runs Amiga OS because this MorphOS isn't worth much.
I'm selling this machine, I won't bother with this system.

I think you shoud buy yourself a Pegasos 2. It's a blazingly fast and robust machine, capable of running Amiga OS.

As he said in comment #115 that he's "forgotten almost everything", I guess it's more a case of not knowing anymore than still not knowing ;-)

At least it's possible to nicely run old WarpOS/Warp3D games on it, as koszer gave video proof of :-)

There's no trolling involved! It wasn't me who started writing in a teasing tone here!
The fact that I didn't think of your Cygnus-ed isn't interesting because, as I wrote, it's been more than 10 years since I had an Amiga.
By the way, I think a basic system should have a simple text editor that not only reads documents but also allows you to write in them! This is true in both amigaOS and macOS!
about the Pegasos2, everything worked better with it and I didn't have to do any tricks
but anyway, the official MorphOS computer is the Pegasos so I shouldn't be surprised by that
And whether you like it or not, I still say that you shouldn't even charge money for such an unstable system.

With this power I can also use Windows but that's exactly what I didn't want
I wanted a system that would run older programs natively
I know that WinUAE can emulate ppc on Windows, but I don't want to use Windows for this purpose.

I reassured everyone that I won't "troll" anymore. I understand that some people idolize MorphOS.
Unfortunately, it only made me nervous.
Yesterday it froze at least 10 times in an hour.
Nothing in the system works properly, so this was just a waste of time and money for me.
Regardless, thank you all for your help
and have a great time with MorpOS!

It's interesting that they kept saying it was impossible to get Shogo or Wipeout2097 to work on a G-5 Mac, and now it does.

The only systems that can run older programs "natively" are old Amiga's (500, 1200, 3000, 4000). My last classic Amiga system was PowerUP'ed 603e/040 with BlizzardVision PPC in a made-up tower and it still ran "native" (as in 68k programs) and PPC BUT - it was unstable, it presented more problems than it really solved and it was nowhere near usable as MOrphOS.

The issue today is that we got used to having OS' with a lot functionality out-of-the-box and with all the goodies that came after the fall of the Amiga (multi-user, mem protection, a lot of built-in utilities, fast network stacks, etc.). And the expectations we have over the OS change in the view of those things we now take for granted. I think this is the real case here.

I had original Amiga OS 3.x (beefed up as you can read above), Amiga OS 4 (for a brief period of time (and even now as emulation on WinUAE) and MorphOS and, by far, the MorphOS is the most stable and usable of all of them. The only thing I find lacking in MorphOS atm is the support for newer GPUs or systems (PPC is long-time dead and PMAC's are not getting younger either).

Everything else can be found either on Aminet or MorphOS storage (with the obvious exception of big software like office suites - though MOS at least has very good web browser and email - it just doen't have enough HW power to fuel it).

"Nothing works" is a very strong word here - you're comparing 3rd party software with the OS itself. I agree that 3rd-party software is largely half-done, unstable and not updated regularly but OS itself is rock-solid (as much as an OS without memory-isolation and other modern things can be).

Other issues I could read through the thread are related to either inexperience with using MOS (which needs to be solved by learning how things work and what you forgot or seem to think that they should work) or the lack of patience and proper planning (so you got stuck early on with multiple purchases, exchanges of HW, conflicting installs, etc.).

Not to say that MOS is perfect and I find lack of 3rd-party software updates (or even more importantly, 1st-party HW updates) is making me use the system less and less but the statement above really doesn't stand the ground.

    At that time I had a tower-built A1200 with mediator+Voodoo card 603e ppc if I remember correctly 240Ghz/40/40
    +Fast Ata
I'm not saying there weren't any freezes, but not as often as I experienced with MorphOS
and I used a lot of third-party programs there too
To this day I regret selling that machine.
    Is the morphOS browser good?
Now you might think I'm teasing you, but it can't be called good at all, all the pages are so slow that it takes a lot of patience to browse the net on MorphOS

There were times when MOrphOS itself froze when I was trying out the applications that come with the system
so you don't need third-party software to freeze the system
and there were times when it froze during booting
but there were also times when I was copying data using an hdd dock, the system would freeze repeatedly
I believe that many people love this system and try to defend it, but unfortunately the truth is that it is very unstable and I am not the only one who says this.
When I had a pegasos2 machine, it was freezing often
but I thought it was a free system (MOS1.4) and it was still very primitive so you couldn't really say anything bad about it at the time
But it's been over 10 years since then! And the amount they're asking for MorphOS is not small either.
In this case, the user may have some expectations if they have already paid for it.
By the way, I remember that the browser on my Amiga at the time (os3.9) was faster! IBrowse, and I don't remember which other one I used
The MorphOS team needs to think a little about the amount they are asking for the system or spend more time on development because then very few people will think in the future that they want to run it now, many will choose Windows+WinUAE as the majority already does.

I have paid for 2 licenses for MOS as a support for developers who actually develop further the NG Amiga-like OS. And I think that's the only right thing to do. Nobody works for free nor they have infinite resources. OTOH I remember that I was getting charged for basic stuff like TCP or graphics drivers on AmigaOS (which I think is ridiculous in this age and time but I was happy to pay for it back then in early 2000s). So yes, I think it should be charged to warrant further development efforts.

Yes, Wayfarer is actually very good - it allows you to open modern web sites - slowly but that's not a browser problem as much as it is ageing HW problem. But most of the modern-day sites are working (better with mobile versions of those sites but even the full desktop ones are working).

You can't compare IBrowse (on AOS 3.9) at the time with Wayfarer on MOS at present - web sites have evolved, they have more multimedia, more complex layout, more dynamics and client-level things going on that never existed at the time OS3.9 and IBrowse were actual things (though even at that time, IBrowse was actually lagging far behind modern web sites). Wayfarer does all those things while IBrowse never could. The times when most web sites had "modern" version and "legacy" version (which IBrowse would still open) are also gone - world has moved on from the point where AmigaOS was in early 2000's and it will not come back. What's even more funny is that AOS4 is nowhere near the usability with modern web sites as is MOS with Wayfarer - you just need to tamper-down you expectations. Because HW is showing it's age and no programmer can make it 10x faster to load sites instantly.

OTOH ff you have constant freezes while doing even basic stuff like copying files, then it's not a MOS problem - it most certainly is a HW problem (overheating, RAM issues, HDD issues) and it should be investigated. Old HW can fail at any time. Also PMAC's were really picky with the RAM types and HW it can use - I had to investigate a lot to find RAM that works properly in my PMAC11,2 with Quad G5's.

OTOH I remember that I was getting charged for basic stuff like TCP or graphics drivers on AmigaOS (which I think is ridiculous in this age and time but I was happy to pay for it back then in early 2000s). So yes, I think it should be charged to warrant further development efforts.

I may be wrong, but Linux is also a free system and newer releases work better and better.
    No malice in this
I was happy to support the Amiga developers at the time
but I got something for my money in return

Yes, you had to pay for Miami, for example, but at that time the internet was not part of the system.
In today's systems, it is standard to have internet support.

Nice trolling all the way, mate.

I think you shoud buy yourself a Pegasos 2. It's a blazingly fast and robust machine, capable of running Amiga OS.

Right-click on text file -> Edit ... - I don't remember OS that didn't had the similar or exact same procedure in the last 20+ years so I can only attribute the statement above to inexperience or malice.

linux is not free - it is sponsored and developed by some of the most powerful companies in the world today (incl. but not limited to IBM (RedHat's owner), Microsoft, Amazon, and a bunch of others). Nothing is free in the world - even if you don't pay for it directly.
Plus comparing the powerhouse OS like linux (which is used on ~95% of all internet servers today) to a small, hobbyist OS, developed by a very small team of dedicated devs is just that, malice or not understanding how the world works, sorry.

Everything costs money - and time and effort are also costs. I have been working in product development and project mgmt field for more than 20+ years now and there's no such thing as free beer.

I'll stop now since the topic drifted away from the original and it doesn't make sense to go further with it.

Unfortunately, it only made me nervous.
Yesterday it froze at least 10 times in an hour.
Nothing in the system works properly, so this was just a waste of time and money for me.
Regardless, thank you all for your help
and have a great time with MorpOS!

"Nothing works" is a very strong word here - you're comparing 3rd party software with the OS itself. I agree that 3rd-party software is largely half-done, unstable and not updated regularly but OS itself is rock-solid (as mush as an OS without memory-isolation and other modern things can be).

Not to say that MOS is perfect and I find lack of 3rd-party software updates (or even more importantly, 1st-party HW updates) is making me use the system less and less but the statement above really don't stand the ground.

The frequent freezes cannot be attributed to a hardware fault because I experienced the same errors on the G4 Mac
plus I know that the G5 Mac works stably under MacOS
Interesting, I didn't experience any freezes under MacOS, and I downloaded and tried a lot of applications there.
I used the voyager browser on the Amiga alongside Ibrowse and I think voyager is still faster than wayfarer to this day.
Even on an old Amiga 600, voyager is pretty fast!
It's a machine equipped with a vampire 2 accelerator, but it's still just an old Amiga.

What speed can it achieve on an Amigax5000 machine, which is much faster than the most powerful G5 Mac?

I've already given you a hint, so you can download the Easy2Install package manager and install individual things you need.
    https://www.morphos-storage.net/?id=2349102

Or you can just go for the complete Chrysalis package — it includes pretty much everything you might need. Most of it is pre-configured and ready to use. You simply install it on top of MorphOS. That might make things easier and more exciting for you.
I would recommend the Chrysalis Pack. Then you can reassess things afterward.
    https://www.morphos-storage.net/upload/chrysalis/Chrysalis.iso

One more thing: if you're only looking to play old games, then you might as well just get the A500 Mini — it's plug & play and doesn’t require any prior knowledge. Anything involving real Amigas or NG (Next Generation) Amigas requires a willingness to dive in and learn. Complaining or saying how bad everything is won't help — in that case, you're in the wrong place.
People here have tried to help you from start to finish, but some effort is still needed on your part and what this has to do with Windows or WinUAE is beyond me — even the old games can be made to run. You just have to take the time to deal with it.

Download the Chrysalis Pack, install it on MorphOS, and then reassess the system with a fresh perspective.

Just stop feeding him. He's having a great time watching you answer his ridiculous claims.

No built-in text editor? I'm pretty sure it's sitting in C: since 1,4 (AKA the 'free' version).
Pegasos 2 faster than Power Mac G5? Bullsh*t, as proven multiple times in this thread already.
Old Warp3D games not working? Bullsh*t, all it takes is to copy some libs and set prefs correctly.
Voyager faster than Wayfarer? Fine. You can use Voyager (even the native MorphOS version) all the way (or AWeb, or even AMosaic if you really want to).
Frequent freezes when doing nothing or using software provided with system? The problem most probably sits between the monitor and a chair of the user.

Just go, buy yourself an A600 and play Wipeout 2097 watching YouTube videos on Voyager. Viszontlátásra!
