    >89 Participants in the Stats and only 2471 Blocks yesterday! Hey lads and gals whats up?
    >Why you didn't chrunch more Blocks With 89 peopel we could easily get 4000-5000 Blocks per day

And what sense does it make now? MorphOS 1.5 wasn't released when we overtook AmigaOS/PPC which was the reason this campaign was started (tongue-in-cheek).
I stopped crunching blocks since I prefer to have a more cool/silent running G4 CPU and without Altivec support the whole potential of G4 is wasted.
I might activate it again when I get an Altivec-enabled system/client.

I'm most of the time using Gentoo Linux, so I stopped sending blocks long ago.... I guess if I install a client in Linux will only help to incresase Linux/PPC stats, anyway...

At night my Pegasos is running Linuz and is unfortunately contributing to Linux/PPC then.

    @ antibike

I have a suggestion for the dnet MorphOS RC5-72 stats site; it would IMHO be very nice to be able to see some individual ranking of daily performance between us users, in an easy to view way. Another list could perhaps be added to the same page (above or below the main list), or perhaps (even better) the order of the names in the drop down list at the top of the page could be sorted from "yesterdays blocks" instead of the current alphabetic order? A daily high score list could function as a furhter "spur" to contribute with more blocks, who knows? It would certainly work for me! :-)

The list could contain the following:

    Nick, Yesterdays blocks, Overall blocks.

The ranking should be based on "yesterdays blocks" IMHO.
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

u mean a user top list? :) yeah.. whould be nice... but very tricky to realize. You had to fetch the site for 91 users, parse them and extract useful information. sadly the dnetc stats site does not have a nice interface (rss or whatever) for this.

Yes, a DAILY user top list! :-)

I know that there is no rss or similar, but the pages are auto geneated from the same templates and should thus be very similar, so it's definitely doable!

    @ takemehomegrandma,

As much as I like the idea of a ranking for the users, please bear in mind, that users may have more than one machine/operating system which they use for dnetc.

E.g. wishmaster who (as described before) runs his pegasos also under Linux, so when the stats say that wishmaster has contributed e.g. 100 blocks, it might be that only 40 of them are from MOS/PPC (during the day) and 60 are from Linux/PPC (during the night).
Same for me also, who has 2 computers: 1 Pegasos G3/600 and one WinPC(Intel/???), both running 24/7.

AFAIK it is not possible to filter out the machines/OS from the user site of the stats (well, I have not found a possibility at least), so to make only a ranking of MOS/PPC each of the participants has to create a user where he only sends the keys he made with MOS/PPC.

Just keep crunching... just keep crunching... ;)

No but seriously, who didn't know that the mos1.5 thing wasn't for real? That's not why you run dnetc and who cares if we don't have altivec yet? A G4 is still faster than an Athlon at the same frequency, and Altivec only affects RC5, so it makes no difference for people crunching OGR instead for example. And considering how low the noise/heat level is even on a fully loaded G4 that is no issue for me either.

I just like stats, since I'm an old fan of role playing gams (IRL and computer versions), so I'll keep it up until there's something better for the machines to do when I'm not using them.

Okay, I thought about it and I changed the team.

With current happenings on amiga.org or ann.lu there is not much reason left to support amiga team anymore. I still wish them some luck. It's like locking back with a crying eye, but looking forward with a smiling one: I'll be from 0.00 member of the Pegasos Team.

hope everyone else will follow and antibike will update his guide for better supporting the pegasos team (which includes Linux and MorphOS pegasos users actually)

    regards,

We will put our Amiga hat on for one second...

Here is our opinion: if it is not a computer built by Commodore, or later Escom (A1200) or QuikPak (A4000), then it is not an Amiga. Simple. No discussion. In this case, we are purists. To call a Teron in any form (which was built to demonstarte the functionality of a northbridge) or _even_ a Pegasos an Amiga is just pure hogwash. Talk about "marketing BS." Humph!

Now, being "Amiga-like" (thanks Fulvio!) because of an operating system is a whole other discussion. :-) In this case, we can all be Amigians! There is no one group or team more "Amigian" than anyone else around here these days.

The RC5-72 stats have a catagory for operating systems. They also have one for teams. There are teams based on many associations - country, platform, school, etc. In this case, the Pegasos Team represents the hardware itself, while MorphOS distiguishes itself in the OS catagory. The Pegasos Team will have other OS RC5-72 clients running -- more than just in MorphOS. By definition, the "team" is a more open catagory. The truth is even other hardware could crunch away and contribute to this team (even PC's), as we are sure this is the case for the Amiga Team today.

No need to cry tokai, the real Amiga died a long time ago. Thankfully, there are many different ways to recreate the environment. :-)

So, now, can we please get back to the future! :-P

    R&B :-D

Hmmm... Sounds like a past ann.lu article I commented about
earlier this week. It is time for us to move on, at the very least
emotionally... starting a Peg dnet group is not a bad Idea, and we
should not care what others think about what we do... if that were the
case I would be still waiting for the new amiga ( and would not have
my PegII ) and would still be in 2000, or was that 1997 or
    was that 2001??

2004 is half over, lets get on with the future!!!

I joined the Pegasos team yesterday. I was on the Amiga tea in the
past. I agree with BBRV, the Amiga died a long time ago. The Pegasos
is the futire and will be the best Amiga-Like system as long as the A1
is using that POS Teron board.

i will stay at the Amiga Team.

The Os statistic shows what i am crunching on
Morphos and the Team, that I am still an Amiga user at heart.

    @ tokai

I have thought about it too, and I decided to join the Distributed Pegasos Team! :-)

For several years I have had it thrown in my face from a lot of people on the forums that I am not a "real Amigan" anymore, often in a very hostile way, from people sitting on their high horses, looking down on me like I would be some second class citizen, all in the name of "Amiga". Since I have been an Amigan since -87 or so, this was frustrating for some time, but when looking back upon it from a "helicopters' perspective", it has *gradually* pushed me away from anything called "Amiga"; the emotional process that katos1 is talking about has not been a sudden one for me, but a long, slow, gradual one. To me, "Amiga" now stands for frustration, lies, broken promises, bad hardware, bad software, bad people, endless waiting, and no faith for the future. I feel no longer a need to contribute to that platform. Why support your "tormentors"? I will go where I am welcome, and during the last two years it has been obvious that "Amiga" is not the place for me.

Once I was *at least* as obsessed with Amiga as Samface (just to say a name) is (and probably in the same, unhealthy way too), so they had a tough time bringing me down, but a lot of hard work from a lot of people finally paid off, mission accomplished, now hear this:

-I, takemehomegrandma, hereby proclaim the following: I am NOT an Amigan!

Wow, that felt relieving! :-) "Coming out from the closet" :-P. My morph is complete! :-D It has become clear to me that the Amiga I once knew is dead since long, but I don't feel any need to look back with one crying eye and look forward with a smiling one, because I still have all the *positive* things from the Amiga with me in the shape of MorphOS, while I leave all the *negative* things behind. Nothing will be missed, and the new (r)evolution starts from here! :-)

Please note that just because I wrote what I did above, it doesn't mean that this team is some kind of "protest movement" for people "denying the Amiga" or something, not at all. I am sure that all Pegasos owners (using MorphOS, Linux or whatever) are all just as welcome (even those who are still living in the closet :-P ;-))!

Well, that was a long, Off Topic side track there! ;-) To return to the topic, this new team also brought the "high score" list I requested in above:

    The daily high score list

    The overall high score list

    :-)

    Speaking of that:

    @ BBRV

Where is b-plan on that list? :-? ;-)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

I switched from team Amiga to the team Pegasos as well.
I quit Amiga some several years ago (quite soon after the AOS4 announcement and after I downloaded the first MOS beta for the Blizzard). Since that time I agree that we should move on and leave a lot of Amiga behind us.
I believe that the butterfly is a sign which is strong enough to go it's own way. Since I have my Peg I answer whenever someone asks which system I run, i use MorphOS and avoid to call it Amiga. I just mention the compatibility and that it comes from a background of the old Amiga scene. But most I stress that it is a fresh, new and higly interesting system.

But of course we should not become some kind of fundamental separatists and cut off everything which we still have together. Being 100% convinced and being fanatic are still two pairs of shoes. And I guess we should always mind that fanatism is not the way to go. Thus I still support things were MOS and AOS are both present but there is absolutely no doubt that my support of MOS is 100%.

Thats interesting, because i tell exactely the same. Only difference:
I also say it ment to be the inofficial AmigaOs successor when Amiga Inc went
    into a completely different direction.
I believe that it will take quite some time (if ever) until I will explain
what Morphos is, without mentioning Amiga.

cause of that I am still member of the Amiga RC5 Team ;-)
