Posted By: ASiegel. on 2010/8/25 15:01:48
Carsten Siegner has published a video preview of Magical Ink, a new vector paint application that is similar to Inkscape and runs on MorphOS 2.5. The software can import OpenOffice Draw, Microsoft Word (97), SVG documents as well as common text and bitmap graphics files. Currently, it can also export to the PDF, SVG, PNG and EPS file formats.

This is very good news. One step closer to having a productivity suite of software native to Morphos.

'Looking forward to its release. :)

Looks very interesting, although it seems unfair to call it "similar to Inkscape" in my humble opinion :-) . How can one become a betatester?

Wow! Very impressive. This is a good shot in the arm for professional native morphos software!

It looks very good. It's a shame there was an error in the car image, but as a work in progress you expect small problems.

If you aspire for Magical Ink to be like Inkscape then that is a good thing. I've used Inkscape a lot and it is very easy to make high quality images.

The second video on YouTube titled Open_Office_on_MorphOS appears to show very good progress in getting Open Office's Word Processor working on MorphOS2.x. Does anyone else know any more news about the Open Office project? How many people are working on it and is there a projected completion date? Open Office is one suite of software programs that is sorely needed for MorphOS2.x and a huge step toward being able to use MorphOS for 90%+ of all things most users need.

Very interested in seeing more news about the Open Office on MorphOS project and it's progress.

I very much doubt that it's OpenOffice at all, despite the name of the video.
