I thought there was an issue with the prefs not saving properly (I disabled the option 'prompt local user to accept connections', which reset itself back again after reboot), but it must have been a mistake on my part, as it seems to be working OK now.

Screen swapping seems to work fine here (and allows me to retain a 24-bit screen for my main 'local' desktop, whilst having a 15/16-bit mode screen dedicated for working on via VNC (to reduce bandwidth).

Thanks for the update and speed improvement. Big areas are transferred a lot faster now. Also changes from low screen depth (8bit) to true color (24bit) have sped up a bit although they stay irregular. As a side effect the VNC viewer message "rectangle too big. do you want to reconnect?" does not appear anymore: now the connection directly drops without any user message on the client side. The viewer window just closes. Maybe it can be addresses with the next birthday release.
