Seems that we will have to set some bandwidth limiter on ppa.pl server. 1 kB/s per user should be enough 8-).

    Speaking of Sputnik...

Since Poland is finally--FINALLY--getting PayPal support, MorphZone can also finally do a useful shift for development support that will reduce the bounty overhead and (hopefully) support more developers. That is, we can post donation buttons for spotlighted software development that doesn't necissarily fall under the heading of a bounty.

For instance, a completed project that needs some kind of occational update. That would be difficult and annoying to keep a bounty running for, but if the developer was to handle his own donations--we could seriously put up a donation button for him or her that goes to their specific PayPal account.

Another example is ARexxPPC. I mean, we know that it's going to eventually get done, and I think continuous support would be better than some big prize at the end of the rainbow.

Also, this would allow the developer to have a choice over the total donation presented on the site (i.e., a monthly total, a yearly total, or a grand total)

Due to the lack of Polish PayPal support, this was virtually impossible in the past. What do you guys think?

    @Targhan

Great that you did indeed implement that honorary member button!

Maybe the text below it could be linked to AmigaHarry's posting as an explanation to people who have not read this thread why he became a honored member?

It has changed a few weeks ago. Now it's fully supported.

While I'm sure that's a great idea for others, I personally don't want that (it's not like I'm doing it for the money anyway (and I don't have a paypal account either)), so please, leave the ARexxPPC bounty to accumulate... ;)

Some bugs were found that needs to be fixed first (and network here is veeeery slow) so Sputnik will be uploaded in the evening, after the show.

I like the idea of having easy to use Paypal buttons to send a volunteer programmer money, like with the webpage for Visionary TV card software. However that is really different from a bounty. With a bounty all the money is collected and the incentive for the programmer is to finish the project and get the bag of loot. With a button to send individual donations directly to the developer, there's a drip drip drip that is nice but there is no bag of loot.

PS: Yeah, in my opinion there should be a button on marcik's Sputnik page to take individual donations for continuing development, just like Frank Mariak does with Visionary.

I might like to add (since you've taken my Visionary project as some sort of reference) that I only received a single donation this way so far and this button is available for quite some time by now (Thanks to the single person that donated, you know who you are). :)
This form of donation buttons can't for sure replace any kind of bounties to get things started or guarantee continued development if all people seeing it rely on someone else donating to the project. :)

    bye

You didn't search Aminet and installed the MOSNet-Usergroup.library (doh) :-)

Got it "working", can't log in on Amiga.org and I haven't managed to point a 2nd tab to anything but that post-stamp-site (which is Sputniks "homepage").

In other words, lot's of work done, yet more to come.
