Ok this is just a quick post to find out how many users solely bought their Peg1 or Peg2
to use MorphOs as their Main operating
    system.

    as the comment on

    http://www.genesi.lu/morphos_statement.php

seems to say that morphOS does not drive pegasos sales.

List your setup and what it was bought for...

    My setup bought for MorphOS

    PegasosII G4 1ghz
    512mb ram
    60gb hd
    Radeon 7000 agp 64mb

Should be much easier to collect those who didn't...

Obviously almost everyone here bought it for MorphOS. For Linux, x86 would be the best choice in most cases, I think. For a niche system, a niche OS does make the most sense, IMHO.

But I don't consider Genesi's statement that bad. It's no "MorphOS is dead"! If they are really going to resume support for "external" MorphOS desktop development remains to be seen, of course, but it's no definite 'good-bye' to MorphOS either. And trying to get the money in first, to spend later on long-term investitions like MorphOS, by focussing on profitable markets now, simply sounds healthy, if we like it or not.

Anyway, my config, as requested by you:

Pegasos II G4/1000, 512 MB RAM, Radeon 7500, Catweasel, Dawicontrol 2975U SCSI, VIA USB 2.0 card; Maxtor IDE 160 GB, Seagate IDE 3 GB, LG 4040 DVD writer, LiteOn DVD drive 16x/48x; Epson Stylus Color 640, Microtek Scanmaker II, LAM 200R Router/DSL-Modem; Tower Chieftec ATX Silver-TX, 19" Medion monitor

Pegasos I/April2 G3/600, 512 MB RAM, Radeon 9200; Maxtor IDE 120 GB, LiteOn CDRW 40/12/48 Smartburn; Epson Stylus C64, Medion USB scanner; PA-270 Mini-Tower/Desktop, 17" Daewoo monitor

Well, I bought my Peg back in 2002 for MOS and it is running MOS since
then (all releases from 1.0 (oh, that was difficult to get it up...)
to 1.4.2 and will continue to run MOS. I do absolutely not regret my
purchase (note that my G3 was kind of expensive 580 EUR for the Peg1
    mobo).

    For the record my setup:

Peg1 g3/600 April 1 (exchanged att he Aachen Show 2002)
    3D Club ATI 7000/64 DVI
    Maxtor 80 G & Samsung 52x CDRW
    and a brilliant Belinea 101751 tft-display

    Addendum:
Of course the current situation is not best (well, really not..) but
it could be worse. The door to MOS 1.5 is still open and I strongly
believe that Laire (and BBRV) will not let down MOS. It is Ralph's
baby and he is part of Genesi, I also know that BBRV like MOS very
much and will support it whenever they can.
The statement on genesi.lu tells me exactly that.

Take the number of members on this site, subtract a couple of linux heads and a coupel who sold their Peg already and you have the PegaMOS headcount.

It might be more correct to say that it *no longer* drives Pegasos sales..certainly the initial wave of 1,000 to 1,500 was all MorphOS but I doubt that figure has grown even 20% based on MorphOS alone...

    For the record:

    Peg 1 G3 - re-sold to Genesi as ShopIP development/demo box

    Peg 2 G4 1Ghz
    512MB PC2700 DDR DIMM
    Voodoo 3 3500 AGP
    Radeon 7500 AGP
    Radeon 9200SE PCI
    Soundblaster Live
    Catweasel MkIII
    IBM Deathstar 75GXP 80GB
    Sony DRU4201 DVD RAM/ROM/CDRW drive
    NCR875 SCSI Card
    Pro-card USB card reader
    Multimedia keyboard
    MS Optical Trackball
Antec Coolermaster series case (blue window)

Some of the above was gifted back to me by Genesi for helping out during the ShopIP initial handover.

I have zero interest in Linux on any platform!

(excuse me for my bad English)

Genesi : "MorphOS does not currently drive significant sales of the platform"
But it the reason of the first sales.
Now MorphOS is not a priority. No future for MorphOS ? Without MorphOS 1.5 ? ... Sell your Pegasos to LinuxPPC Users, that will make less sales for Genesi. Perhaps that will make change Genesi priority ?

My setup bought for MorphOS (only).

    Pegasos I G3 April1
    256 MB ram, 2 x 40 GB HD
Yamaha CD Writer - LG DVD drive
    Radeon 7500 - Webcam
Epson stylus 900 - Epson scanner perfection 1660

I have a (second-hand) PegasosII G3 and have only really been using it with MorphOS.

I have just about zero interest in running LinuxPPC on it. If I just wanted another Linux-box I'd have bought another dirt cheap x86-based machine to do the job.

    So count me in.
