Anyway, on another note... How many of you guys are running on the fab new EFIKA? yeah, I know it doesn't have the horses under the hood that the Peg2 did--but it certainly lets someone get creative, no?

i tried mos2 a bit on my efika but i wasn't satisfied with it. 128mb of ram is quite a huge handicap IMHO.
+ i can't afford 2 mos licences, so i bought one for the peg.

I sold the efika and its new owner seems happy with it.

    Hey Targh

For the love of all that is holy can we please have theme changes enabled again? I hate this white background color it hurts my eyes late at night! :)

Also as stated earlier, gallery upload is important so we can have some nice 2.0 screenshots in an organized way.

Good to have you back again.. we were about to call INTERPOL!

    Hi Targhan

I can moderate till you find a replacement for me. I am not leaving but as I no longer have Pegasos, I think we deserve a moderator who can actually use MorphOS :-)

actually if you're not afraid of not-really-mainstream views i'd be happy to give a hand with moderating.

Well, some will get the job, but NO ONE can take his place.

    [self edit below]
Seriously, I suspect that there will be more than one moderator position open. There are no real perks about being a moderator, save for a private forum used to fuss about moderating :-P

Then again, I thought that "non mainstream views" was a prerequisite for being a MorphOS user!

Me! I have both a Peg2 and an Efika, but since for obvious reasons I am using the Pegasos waaay more, I did not register MorphOS 2.0 on the Efika yet. I still think it might be worth it sometimes in the future (didn't want to spend too much money in a too short timeframe).
Overall, I have been positively impressed by MorphOS on the Efika, it is quite a lot better than I expected. But I know it's not the same for everybody (mostly stability-wise...).

On another site related topic, I like the way the MorphZone bounties were managed, I think they are easier to follow than those on pegasos-forum and overall better organized. I'd prefer bounties to be hosted on an international site, as I can understand just a couple of words of german, and threads in german are obviously going to pop up over there...

    Kind regards,
    Andrea

Take a look at this Site. And we try to have all Threads and Bounty descriptions, rules and what ever translated in english and german.
Maybe you have some suggestions what to do to please international user and what we could do better?

power2PEOPLE only accepts bounties for open source software. That is a key differentiator from the MorphZone bounty system (see Sputnik, for example).

The question is, though, if with today's size of the Amiga community it's really still desirable for the users to have closed source ones anymore at all.

Especially since then donations from users of the whole Amiga family could be gathered, like it can be expected from the supposably still upcoming Poseidon bounty for AROS.

    @Senex

I agree with your ideal, particularly with the size of today's install-base. However, you must keep in mind that there will be developers who want control of their code, and to some extent want to prevent others from profiting from their work. It is a very difficult decision to work through, and that's why it might best be handled on a case by case basis. Again, I agree with Senex on the main point: the size of the install base and the proportion of developers to users leans itself towards open-source software. This fact should govern the process in so much that closed source support from the community should be the exception rather than the rule.

On the flip side of the coin, I believe that any site attempting to support the developer community through donations should also support a directory, of sorts, to allow closed source freeware projects to accept their own donations. A given project could then be promoted through the site's resources in proportion to the user-base's needs.
