Don't know if this is the preferred forum - guess I'll find out. Are there any plans for a Java VM, and if so what are they?

    TIA

A JVM is currently being written from scratch : JAmiga.

    http://www.jamiga.org

The project is still alive and active.

The sourcecode for Suns JDK/JRE are available from their website (free registration required). It of course needs a lot of work to compile on a new platform such as MorphOS. The thing is, someone could invest money in a project to have it ported. The FreeBSD-people ported it themselves and has now gotten it officially approved by Sun as it has been successfully tested with their test-suite (which means that it should fully support all Java 1.4.1 features). This was done mostly with GCC 2.95 so it should be doable on MorphOS as well.

What is the status of the Q-Box? I've hunted around but it doesn't seem like it exists yet. Is it ever going to?

I'm trying to look at the whole package.

I like the hardware and Morphos seems interesting. But (sorry to break it to) A-box ain't gonna do it. Don't get me wrong, I like Amiga. I could see at the time it was superior but ended up with a wintel. At the time it was pretty hot... 386 20mhz. With a turbo switch. But that was a LONG LONG time ago! So (blasphemy ahead) forget the Amiga.

So maybe I'll get a Pegasos and run linux. But
I have to say I'm smitten with the UI. Gotta have it!

Ambient is just stunning. And if it's as responsive as what I've read....

So what's the deal with Q-Box? Or any other box?

    Kind regards
