A good looking/pro soft for MorphOS.

    http://tcheko.binaryriot.org/soundbankster/

It's in beta state but in good progress.

My guess is more MOD DJ software?

Some page, no info what so ever. I am downloading, though not getting my hopes up with the Efika.

Aghh ha, so MorphOS is now officially entering the DJ market. Now all we need is the ability to run it on some sort of Tablet hardware. :)

    From the website:

New HID sensors system gives pretty nice results. I am fully driving the application from an USB DJ Deck without the help of the mouse nor the keyboard... And this is rocking. :)

So how can I become registered to give the software a go? There isn't much in the way of linkage on the download site.

It doesn't work, it says your system is not registered to run this application....

It's a bit unfortunate really as the package looks really neat, I'd love to give it a go...

Something I was thinking might benefit this whole project, considering they are CHEAP on Ebay, is the Mixman DM2. If you search around the web or look it up on Youtube you'll see that people have written special software to use this as a controller for their various DJ apps under Windows and Linux. Something cheap yet effective like this for DJ software under MorphOS could only be a good thing.

Matter of fact I'd be willing to donate mine and buy another if the author of this software was interested in giving it a shot.

Have you checked wether and how Poseidon regocnizes that controller ?

Maybe it just binds itself as a gamepad, making support rather trivial.

If it requires a costum USB-driver that task would be much bigger.

"No class responsible" though there are drivers for Linux too, perhaps studying those would be of use if he's interested?

In the mean time I wrote the author about it and offered to give and ship it to him if he wanted to look into it. Again, it's a cheap solution and not a bad one at that by any means. Even the "kid's" software that came with it is pretty effective.

Drat, hoped it would be just some kind of hidd device.

For example I recently bought a small kbd with intregrated touchpad (to be used with my Rasberry) and to my suprise it worked quite well under MorphOS. Standard gestures (scrolling and 2nd click with 2 fingers) allready predefined in HW, and more (sideway scrolling, 3 finger tap...) bound to extra mousebuttons....

Maybe some of the other USB-DJ-pads found on the interweb work in that way.

Hopefully... those truly plug and play devices come in very handy! Thing is though that I doubt we'll find a DJ Board as cheap as this one and of the same quality. It's really quite amazing for a "children's toy". Speaking of that, I was surprised to see that Skinny Puppy had contributed bits of audio pieces for the official software pack that came with it.

I wrote a USB driver for http://www.hercules.com/uk/DJ-Music/bdd/p/214/djcontrol-mp3-le/ and I guess Tchecko will use this as a base for other devices too.

Not a terrible price on that unit, yes hopefully he adds in support for it too! :)

Until recently i just read that this is a handy dj software, but i have no time to look it closer. Now ihave to organize a home party, so i thought i put this software on the line. Upgraded to version 1.3.

On the quick guide there is a cool skin for the software, however if i run it, it has a simple grey mui. The skin folder is empty.
So how can i turn soundbankster to run with the desgned mui skin?

It would be perfectly possible to write dedicated sensors driver for every devices out there but it would be a time consuming process and also a waste of time.

Most USB deck relies on midi protocol to send/receive data. Sadly, there isn't a decent native midi API like camd.library for MorphOS.

As a mean solution, it could be possible to write some kind of midi to sensors bridge that would translate midi events to sensors events. I started to write such (broken by design, totally cumbersome mapping user interface...) bridge but didn't managed to finish it.

Another solution could be embedding a dynamically created Poseidon class in SoundBankster that would bind directly to midi interface of the USB device. Previous idea is already a stunt. This one pushes it further.

Best would be a proper midi solution like camd.library that would benefit all audio apps.

For the people willing to use a deck, there is the DJ Console MK2 from Hercules that plays nice with sensors. It can be found at decent price (40 to 80e) in the second hand market.

As a bonus, maybe one day, the USB audio card of this little deck will be supported as well...

Copy SOUNDBANKSTER.prefs file to ENV-ARC:MUI and ENV:MUI. It should do the trick.

You can also tweak the MUI settings via Settings / MUI.
