    Hi Zukow,

Congratulation, this is really a great piece of software! A question for you: would it be possible to add ICS support? There is an ICS package available from Wolf Faust on:
    http://www.ics.coloraid.de/

For now I still need to use fxPaint for now because through fxScan it uses directely ICS. IMHO calibrated scans are the only way to get a professionnal quality results of images which reflects the original's and that's what is wanted.

What do you think? I'm sure it would be much benefit for everyone, not only professionnals!

    new driver - plustek backend
    http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/download/plustek.lha

in a very alpha state, copy conf to s: and change
[usb] 0x04A9 0x220D (to your vendor id and product id)

O.k., gave it a try with my CanonScanN1240U

It seems to work, after I've been told to leave the "device" entry empty and put the "plustek-usb.device" into "Scanner-driver".

    O.k. some findings:

-Setting the resulotion higher than 600 will fail
-Changing color-mode seems to have no effect
-after initial scan some new color-modes are added
    -GUI is unresponsive while scanning
-SCANdal does not return when I plug in my scanner after I clicked "scan" (yeah stupid me, should still not hang)
-clicking "process" with no plugin selected will make SCANdal meditate, a simple safety-check should help here.

If it (sort of) works with your N1240U, then I need to get off my @$$ and test it with my N1220U. Keep us posted with any other test results you get and I will let you know if I find the same with my very similar scanner.

there is something wrong with SANE plustek backend, i used rather old backend because newer ones from sane >1.0.14 make bad things with scanner motor. i'll be investigating that

mode list depends on scanner and driver and it's generated after connection to the scanner. If You want to do first scan with all options, there is Connect button in the Information Tab, or autoconnect tooltype in the icon.

lack of threading in scandal, will be added in the next version

strange, Do you have no plugin selected and no plugin in the list or no plugin selected and some plugin in the list?

    Slight correction:
It's the preview button that lead to a crash.

After fresh start it seems safe, but once I scanned something and click "Preview" it's Guru-time.

No plugins installed, but "SCANdal" and "SCANdal.readme" get listed (again some sanity-checks might be in order here), none of them selected offcourse.

Overall I must say the scan-results are less than satisfying, colors are way off, might try if "Curves.plugin" gets better results.

AFAIR the last time I had it running (under OSX) it was also dome with SANE-based drivers, so better results should be possible.

    Hi Zukow,

Nice app, it's good to see it progressing (from skimming the thread so far).

I notice in your download directory that you have Mustek_usb listed :-) . From SANE-notes, I notice that this supports my Mustek 1200 UB (vid = 0x055f, pid = 0x0006).

I'd love to test this out, but I'm not sure how to set it up. Scandal is up and running, but doesn't detect the scanner.

I've installed mustek_usb.device to sys:devs/ , and selected this as the scanner driver in the scandal prefs.

I'm not sure what to use as the 'device driver' though, and selected ahi.device (as suggested for one of the other drivers), with unit 0 - but still no scanner detected.

Do I also need to configure the device in Poseidon (It is currently bound to massstorage.class for some reason), or is that taken care of by the new usb api you mentioned?

    Thanks

    Looked at the docs.
Bought a 1640su scsi/usb scanner which was listed as fully working.
Cannot get my Epson Perfection 636 to be recognized by Poseidon. Enumeration error.
The 1640su is still supported for up to windows 7 32bit by Epson.

those scanners don't work well with Poseidon USB itself. You can send me debug log from logtool but i don't guarantee anything

it looks like that MorphosTeam fixed USB :)

    ok so:
    download: http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/download/mustek_usb/mustek_usb.device
    download: http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/download/mustek_usb.conf

    copy mustek_usb.conf to s:

    run SCANdal,
choose Scanner driver: mustek_usb.device with full path
    Device leave blank
    Unit: 0

scanner has to be unbinded in poseidon prefs

It should work (other scanners handled by mustek_usb backend too) :)

    no :)

i ported mustek_usb backend about one year ago, but communitation with scanner was about 10 secs per byte so scanning took years with successive versions of MorphOS.

recedent tested his scanner yesterday and it works without problems with 2.7, i tested mine and it works without problems too so usb must have been fixed after 2.5 (i made last tests then)

mustek_usb.device fixed and reuploaded (morphos 2.7 required)
    http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/download/mustek_usb/mustek_usb.device

public SCANdal has one small bug in DPI handling so download 1.5beta to use it with this scanner

Thanks Zukow, you're a jewel. I honestly never thought I'd see this (Mustek 1200 UB) supported under MorphOS - it was such a nice surprise to find that you're working on this. Thankyou

I'm just about to head away for the weekend, so will hopefully get to test it all on Sunday night.

    Best Regards

So I've tried the lexmark driver on my X1180 and it works, it does have some trouble with the scan area.

    From the information tab:
    Driver Details
    Vendor Lexmark
    Model: X1100/rev. 2C
    Version 1.1

    Page Parameters
    Paper Width: 432.14 mm
    Paper Heigth: 579.80 mm

The specs from Lexmark say 216 x 297 mm. The scan area size is relative to the specs from the information tab, and the maximum SCANdal allows me to enter is 210 x 297.
