    Hmmm,

An old question/problem, but since I have the wonderfull statline installed I found out the following:

The earlier mentioned audio/synchronisation problems with DivX movies arise only when playing high resolution ones. As soon mplayer uses up to 100% cpu time, the problem starts. This should not occur when using the FRAMEDROP parameter, since the movie would skip a few frames when the cpu-load gets to high. But there seems to be no difference in playback with or without FRAMEDROP enabled. As mentioned earlier, Frogger doesn't seem to have a problem with the same files but it uses less cpu time (probably because of the VLAYERPLANAR playback mode) and does noticeably skip frames from time to time.

So I was wondering if FRAMEDROP does actually work?

The MorphOS version is quite outdated, and there are new things as matroska and others that this not supports (and I think that MPlayer need an itself GUI (maybe possibility of use MPlayer skins?))... And AHI seems support 5.1 & 7.1 ;-)

I'd also like to see a new port done. Who made the first one? Has he decided not to continue on with it for MorphOS? The latest version seems to run very nice on OS X, they have removed SDL support from it from what I see on the project page. I dont know if that will do anything.

The MorphOS version uses CGX, not SDL, using SDL will be too slow.

    Okay, time for a rectification:

It seems that FRAMEDROP does actually work on some DivX movies. But why won't it work with certain other movies?

And another thing: I just can't seem to be able to change the audioID. No matter what ID I try (either changed in the icon or within a commandline), it always seems to use bestmodeid. Suggestions?

    Hi,

MPlayer 1.0-PRE4 MorphOS port is available here: http://nogfx.free.fr/warpdesign/soft_muifind.html

Nicolas DET (who also did previous ports) did the port. I made some fixes/changes.

Please have a look at the readme before complaining ;)

And yes: this release seems to be slower and not as smooth as older release, dunno why...

    Regards,
    Leo.
Nothing hurts a project more than developers not taking the time to let their community know what is going on.

Its not bad, but as it is now you would be better using the older version. If this new version can be optimised to run as smooth as the other many people would be happy though! ;-)

    Hello,

yes, the DVD-drive is a big problem, too.

Some drives don't work with mplayer under
    MorphOS, especially encrypted DVDs.

BTW: If I watch not encryted DVDs directly
with the drive it's a little bit slow, but
if I copy the VOB-file on my harddisc or
use the filerequester to choose it from the
    DVD, it runs nearly perfect.

    Don't ask me why...

    Regards

I get some reports that this version is MUCH slover than 0.91 and this seems to be true in some cases.

This is no CPU related problem because cpu consumption is ~30-40% when playing some files, but playback is not smooth. Adding -autsync 10 not always help (No such problem with some older Mplayer 1.0pre4 compilation by you).

Nico can you take a look at it ? Send to me a e-mail with valid e-mail addess and I will add a write enabled cvs account with mplayer pre4

You can see the VOB files on an encrypted DVD? I cant even get access to the DCD at all on my system. I am starting to think my DVD drive is just crap.

    @Acill

Well, I can see the VOB files on an encrypted DVD, but I can't play them becuase the system will complain about read/write errors (I can only play VOB files on a non-encrypted dvd). I've got a cheap LG dvd-rom.

But I can play dvd's by using the "-dvd-device ide.device:2 dvd://1" (<- ofcourse depending on your setup) commandline in a cli.
