On my powerbook( I haven't tried yet on my G5 since I use my powerbook for morphos usually) when I try to login to gmail. I get a internal error. I have tried replacing the cert from curl.haxx.se which didn't work. Is there another way to access my gmail other than the browser? I see some post of a software called simplemail. Is that a better option verses access through the browser?

I can log into GMail on OWB with no problems. So it should work.

Indeed I have the same problem after changing the password.
    At least SimpleMail works.

Try w/o using URL completion. Just ignore completion popup (if appears) and delete completion string. Type all characters one by one to the very last one.
I had similar problem but with other website.

Hello MorphOS veterans and newbies too,

First post here, as I'm new to MorphOS, still testing the system on my MDD PowerMac G4 which was recovered from the attic where it had spent the last six years or so.

One of the first things I was interested in is the possibility to browse the web when running MorphOS. Unfortunately, I can also report that I was not able to login to Gmail, and not because of some sort of annoying auto completion features, but because Gmail says (right after it has accepted my login credentials) that "cookies are not enabled" which is not the case, according to the settings they ARE enabled, but somehow Gmail uses a method to sore them which does not seem to be working with the version of OWB that is included in the MorphOS disk image.

Is there anything I could do, so that I can login to Gmail?

    @ szabesz

    Welcome to MorphOS :-)

I had that problem on other Google websites as well (Youtube and others) and also on other browsers. I consider this as either a bug or intentional to squeeze out even more data of the users. My answer (you may not like it but it is possible to do so): don’t use Google. Move your mailbox to another provider and access it from there or move all your mails completely and don't touch Goole anymore.

This is a very new bug, so we daily users haven't found, or had time to find, any solution to it yet. GMail used to work just fine for years, but now it broke down in last days/weeks. There is newer OWB available too (it's 1.23 which is included, but you can update to 1.24 too), but it doesn't help with this issue.

Few days ago I got Google's error page telling "Invalid request.", but now it said "Oops! Your browser seems to have cookies disabled. Make sure cookies are enabled or try opening a new browser window.", so it seems that GMail is also changing all the time now. We can try find a solution/setting or hope that it'll eventually changes to working again :)

@jPV Thank you for you explanation!

"GMail is also changing all the time now"
This is certainly true and these days they even assume that everyone is using the so called "evergreen browsers", so not having a relatively recent modern browser for MorphOS seems to be a serious issue.

Actually that is one of the main issues in our user software. The web changes too quickly to have a 2 year timeout of the main utility for it: the web browser. But currently no one is ready to fix the remaining gaps to bring us a more recent version.

OK, I found out why my login works.

I have been using the same cookies for years and it seems to autolog me into Gmail. When I logged out I got the same problem as everyone else. But overwriting OWB with my latest backup solved the problem right away.

I have no idea if this is help, but maybe one can manipulate cookies to fool Gmail into allowing you to log in. Hopefully someone can figure it out.

Interesting, my account was hacked so I couldn't use the old cookies anymore.
Maybe it's an endian issue of the new cookies? At least it's not JavaScript.

Now, thanks to Yasu and jpv I came up with a little tricky workaround. As I'm short of time now I won't describe step by step what I did but roughly describe what I did to get gmail working again in OWB:

    1. Opened Chrome in OSX, cleared all cookies and signed in to gmail
    2. Edit OWB's cookies.db with some sqlite manager, I used DB Browser for Sqlite on OSX
    3. Open Chrome cookie manager
    4. Copy all values from Chrome cookies to your OWB cookies and manually add not existing one. Make sure to copy all values and pathes.
    5. Just copy back cookies.db to OWB, I used my bookmark to gmail and was logged in back again :)

You can probably use other browser than Chrome, like Firefox etc as long as you can see all the cookies and their values.

EDIT: I cleared all cookies in Chrome to see what cookies are needed to move.

Didn't check as I'm not logging in to yt too much but I presume it would work as well.

Someone smart could came up with some cookies converter for example from Chrome to OWB as they are the same db format, just have bit different fields numbers etc.

Thanks simple mail was a more simpler approach. Plus more faster than the browser. Gmail eye candy slowing down old browsers!

There is a setting where you can get the simpler interface when you log it.

I found an easier solution : copy the cookies.db from an OWB OS4 (maybe AROS too) into your /conf of your MorphOS OWB !

It works for GMail and Blogger. And with Youtube !

    Sure because I do it ! ^^

Of course, you need to go to your Google account with your OWB OS4 ^^

Here, I have OWB 1.25 on OS4 (Pegasos 2) et OWB 1.24 on MorphOS (Powerbook).

Thanks for this tip too, but unfortunately I haven't got networking to work under emulated OS4 yet :)
