Frank Mariak has uploaded a new web page for G-Rex

ATM the webpage includes native drivers for the RTL8029 driver.

He plans to release native MorphOS G-Rex soundcard drivers in the future too, so Terratec 512 users may be lucky.

He accepts donations, so G-Rex users can show their support.

He also has included in the webpage a native MorphOS AriadneII driver.

    Thank you Frank!

The RTL8029 seems to be the old 68k 'cause it has exactly the same file size.

At least sound drivers if time permits ...
Unfortunately, USB drivers only have limited use with G-REX. This is basically due to a bug in the CSPPC/BPPC DMA interface which fails on small data transfers (which are required for certain kind of usb transfers). I have a fixed CSPPC which has an updated firmware that fixes this bug but this version never made it into public and would require an in-circuit reprogramming of some components. DCE bought out phase5's CSPCC/BPPC business and they stopped supporting any Amiga stuff quite a while a go afaik, so there is not even a chance to get boards updated. So to make a long story short: USB drivers won't work with G-REX.

    bye

I doubt it'll work seeing as the original ariadne is based on a different chip.

    Anyone tried the Ariadne driver?

My CPU load is at constant 99% with it :-?

Switched back to my X-surf II again

I've recently tried the new ariadne driver and I have the same problem as you.

Cpu overload, it shows 99% and after a while it freezes. Any ideas as where to start or look?

Since prometheus uses the same pci abstraction within MorphOS, it might of course as well work with GREX drivers but it can't actually be guaranteed to work .....

I just uploaded Terratec 512i Fortemedia801 drivers to the grex page. You might better get hold of one of this cards for GREX, it's DMA capable opposed to Solo1 and causes less CPU load. I might consider porting the ESS Solo1 driver as well, though ....

I can't get the rtl8029pci.device.elf to work on my GREX/MorphOS powerup system. Miami says unable to open unit 0. In snoopdos it reads the file OK and it's in devs:networks ....

I did get the FM801 driver to work but the audio quality isn't as good it seems as the 68k driver. I didn't do much tweaking other than set Music Unit to 44 or 48khz and Unit 0 as well.

Tried a different stack? Miami was quite odd about how it treated network *.device drivers.

Way waaaay back in the 90s I couldn't get my Hydra PCMCIA card to work on my A1200 with it unless I applied some (now long forgotten) patches to hydrapcm.device with NSDPatch.

I didn't try another stack. Kind of gave up on it. At least the FM801 card worked :)
