i would like to open a bounty for a command to remove Mac startup sound on every Mac.

Somebody interrested ?

i think he wants a command for MorphOS.

From my MM startup sound removed physically, with totally useless crap quality internal speaker :D

Better go for the linux live cd, there is the command you need once and done.

PS.: I unplugged the internal speaker of my PowerMac G4. Of course thats not a solution for other systems.

@Geit : it's just a soft write new values of variable in OF isn't ?

There are this softs on Mac and Linux, why don't on MorphOS ?

Actually the real way to disable the sound is to write the variable SystemAudioVolume=%80 to NVRAM. This may actually survive poweroffs so you could in theory do it from a Linux bootable thumb drive. I can see all sorts of issues accessing NVRAM from Quark's memory map on MorphOS though...

(And no, OF is not affected at all.)
