    Hello all,

I throw again a big bounty "Support our developers 2014 # 2" to support the developers of non-commercial software for MorphOS still active to this day .

The bounty will end on December 31th, 2014 and will be shared equally between the developers listed below:

    - OnyxSoft (Backup, SnapIt, ZoomIt, etc...)
    - BSzili (correctif Wazp3D pour MorphOS, berusky, OpenJK, SpeedDream, etc...)
    - James Jacobs (AmiArcadia, ReportPlus, WormWars, etc...)

    - Thomas Rapp (DAPlayer)
    - Rob Cranley (InstallerGen)
    - tokai (statline, sbar keymap, elephant, etc...)
    - neoman (SimpleMail NG)

Don't hesitate to let me know of omissions. If developers don't want to be on this list, they can contact me, I will update the list as soon as possible. You can send your donations via the PayPal button available in the box "Bounty for dev" on the website www.warmup-asso.org. I will update the list of donations as soon as possible.
If you do not want your real name in the list of donors, you can ask me to register your nickname or "Anonymous".
The purpose of this project is to mobilize ALL MorphOS users to motivate some developers that we still have. In this project, it is not necessarily the amount of the pot that is important but the number of donations. What would be great is that the box "Bounty for dev" is longer than the "News" box.

Let us mobilize to advance MorphOS.

    MorphOS Power!!!

I'm gonna donate, but ... is it such a good idea to add so many people? Because in the end there will be not a lot of money going around to each and everyone of them. If we had more users donating it would be a different matter.

Wouldn't it be better to have a rotation? Let the association members decide which five persons (for example) should split the money this time and then vote for 5 others the next time. This way the five recipients will get quite a lot of money, which hopefully with motivate then more. I would believe everyone think that's more rewarding than everyone get to share some 4 euros.

I have to agree with Yasu. If thousands of € were to be collected, then having this many people in the roster wouldn't be a problem.
This is just like television, only you can see much further.

    @Yasu and BSzili:

the problem is we don't have many developers. In this projects, i would like motivated ALL developers. For the next bounty, i will remove developpers will not releasing software since the first Bounty (many months between the first and the third bounty) and I hope there will not have.

If ALL MorphOS users do a small donation (5 euros for example), i'm sure the bounty will reach thousands of euros (400 x 5 euros = 2000 euros) :-D

2000 euros for 23 developers it's only 71 euros for one developer but ALL developers are supported by the MorphOS community and not only five.

I'm sure we could do better than 2000 euros in two months...

    Wait and see :-D

The main issue is that few people are kind to donate,
    even a small fee.

That said, not all developers contribute to the platform
    in the same productivity schedule.

Next month, I'll donate to this bounty. (thanksfully Papiosaur has
extended this bounty till the end of the year). Even with 5 €
as Papiosaur says, the compromise counts.

I prefer when bounty is set for specific reason. I doubt that spreading whatever is collected between such a big amount of developers will have huge (if any) impact on their motivation.

Just like Pampers said. I think the initiative is excelent and this should not be taken as critisism if it. But I think you will always miss some developer who later has to be added to the infinitely increasing number of people sharing the same amount.

And to be blunt, not all system or software developers do equal amount of work. There are some who deserves the money more than others.

If 5 developers got to share 2000 € (400 € per person) it would be a much better motivator than getting 70 €. Instead of a nice dinner, it would be enough to buy some cool hardware ;-)

      My 2 cents. I've donated anyway :-D

Actually, I'm traditionally known as an independent developer whom frequently makes behind-the-scenes projects. Since I have an expertise in phoneme-to-speech speech synthesis and I'm not presently finding a speech synthesizer in MorphOS, other than running A1200/A500 in e-uae, I guess might have an actual target project to do. As for making something "useful", a speech synthesizer can probably get blind or visually impaired persons into using MorphOS; as for me, sometimes, I like operating my computer with my eyes closed (due to a headache or something similar).

During the past few days, I have been working some config tweaks to make MorphOS a "usable" system for non-Geeks. At my location (Philippines), MorphOS is like a "foreigner" when it comes to computers, nobody else here knows it. :)

Thanks for the info. I've not worked with Festival/Flite since July 2013, since I could not get the diphone voices to effectively speak Tagalog/Filipino words, during my creation of the Tagalog speech synthesis dictionary. I have switched to SpeakJet to get the voices I want.

      SpeakJet Homepage

SpeakJet requires the Serial TX line, however, I'm told the current pl2303 drivers aren't yet working for Serial TX.

I have three operational SpeakJet speech synthesizer circuits for testing, two of which I hand-built, ready for my MorphOS SpeakJet projects, including my software parsers, one of which uses Flite for rapid Englist-to-Phoneme translations.

I have an operational SpeakJet speech synthesizer in Linux, known as the SpeakJet Cape on my BeagleBone Black. This one is my master protege in which embedded speech synthesis is part of the Linux OS, and is the host development system to all of my SpeakJet-related projects.

My idea is to do similar SpeakJet-related projects in MorphOS, to continue on my embedded speech synthesis projects. Since SpeakJet will not be using AHI nor GPU, it's spontaneous CPU processing allows the SpeakJet speech even when AHI has malfunctioned. By now, after reading what I had written, my SpeakJet projects probably sound "confusing" to MorphOS users, but there are many practical uses, as it is also known as an "audio output device" rather than just a novelty. Think of a display-less MorphOS that presents data in speech form while the AHI is busy playing music... :-)

AHI can output music, while playing audio from a video, while outputing speach.

There is no problem in that.

Beside this I would prefer using reggae these days as a modern media interface.
