Got sick of all the twats at AW plus my girlfriend has been bugging me for a laptop so pretty much killed two birds with one stone by ordering a shiny new PB and MOS licence.
Well old school Amiga user running back to the 80s so doubt I`ll have any nubby questions however, I do like the OS4 theme (sorry) so if someone could point me at an OS4 look for MOS that would be great.

Anyways, glad to meet you all x

Both are different you can use both if your economy allows it, because in both case the OS are better that Windows, but the big problem is the lack of software to make common cases of work... because the current computers are governed for the Microsoft and Google empires.

    Welcome Fraggle.
And don't let the developers convince you this is a hobbyist OS.
I go for months at a time with using any other operating system.

You can totally use Morph as your main OS, but you do need to be aware of what you are doing.
Amiga 1200 and G4 MDD MOS as my main computers.

Which I do and lets not play games here - OSpoor is flakey and slow, as is the hardware support, the developers are unrealistic and all the good ones from the old days are with MOS now anyway (the only exception I can think of is Amidog). All this makes my choice a no-brainer for anyone using the scientific method or possessed of limited cash-monies!

Damn, just realised I have an A1107. How`s R300 3D looking ATM? Again, I have money to chip in, maybe up to £1000 in this case.

    @Fraggle

While it's (IMHO) most fun to set up your system yourself piece by piece, 100% according to your own needs and preferences, I'd recommend you as a new user to at least have a look at the excellent "Pack Ultimate", which is a quick and easy way of getting a peek of the real power and possibilities of MorphOS! If you like that, then keep it. If not, then at least you will have some inspiration of what to get (and not to get) if you (re)install it on your own! And Welcome, BTW! :-)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

What's so bad about it? Is it just that it's not the latest generation?

Or maybe just create two bootable MorphOS systems and tune one yourself and have another for Pack Ultimate :) Then you'll also have nice backup partition to boot from if something goes wrong with either of them.

I have dualboot with MorphOS system partitions, but I keep all other programs and data on Work partition where they can be shared for both boot systems. That way you don't have to install duplicate apps etc.

    Hi Fraggle,

    welcome to MorphOS communauty ;-)

About pack Ultimate, the link of the latest version is always the same:

    http://www.meta-morphos.org/download/pack/ultimate.iso

I will do an Ultimate.txt with informations as version of the pack, size of the iso, list of software, etc...

    Take fun with MorphOS !

Not that but I thought its R300 was unsupported by TinyGL. Is that wrong then?

No, that's correct. But as all PowerBook models supported so far by MorphOS have R300 GPU there shouldn't be anything particularly bad about the A1107 model in this regard ;-)

Ahh, I did not know that. So who is working on R300 TinyGL support that I can throw money at?
