I think seeing MOS 1.5 around christmas is something to hope for. I don't know if it will happen, but I *do* think it is in the realm of possibilities.

And then the slogan "we have a present for you" will be perfect!

But it seems that 1.5 never will appear and mos will be abandonated...

It's sad, yes, but Genesi wins money with freescale and seems forget MorphOS...

Please tell me what is sad about a company focussing it's efforts on a market segment that actually delivers a revenue stream versus one where the sales are virtually stagnant?

Or do you mean it's sad for the users because MOS is delayed...?

Freescale *is* interested in MOS. Same holds true for bbrv. They are all interested. Don't do too fast conclusions from that little fact that a website changed and there is some silence around (where we all are curious about that, indeed)...

But MOS 1.5 *will* come, exept a plane with the entire core team is kidnapped by aliens which is - say - unlikely.

You aren't from mos core so not talk by others...

    Genesi ignores mos core...

Freescale interested on MorphOS? Where Freescale said that? I will think if are words from Freescale and not Genesi...

Mos core isn't happy with that happen, there are some obscure reason for that and they protest changing the webpage...

Genesi must solve those problems with mos core...

Al lot of people from different types of users are negative with the situation of MorphOS 1.5...

That would be very nice especially if you want to copy for example a
few things on a website and not have to switch continiously to a text

Mos team should act more seriously if they want the OS to succeed. Acting like kids won't help ! After all this year and all the money invested I can't believe what they are doing instead of having a constructive talk with BBRV. We'll see what happen but I still believe they should show some real works as an update instead of alway complaining !

Its still to early to tell what is going on. I for one would be upset if MOS left and went on as a multi system OS. I dont think it will survive without the Pegasos. Why would people other then those of us that have a Pegasos and a Mac run it on anything else when they can run MacOS on their Macs ect? Its like WinUAe for the PC users. I have yet to see anyone go and get a PC set to boot straight to WinUAE and be a stand alone Amiga. Amitlon does that, but still very few have a stand alone.

Lets just see what they are up to. I think its just a ploy for attention is all for now at least.

Sorry but is it a joke ? During the last 12 months, there were several MorphOS updates. I also think you never saw anybody from the "MorphOS team" complaining.
If it was a joke, it was not a funny one.

    Okay, let's time out here.

This thread is becoming a home for users complaining about the lack of news on MOS-development. The point is valid, taken and now hopefully done, ok?

Bottomline: MOS-development is still going on (hurray), atm no news (awww) and complaining won't help a bit, other than irritate the developers. The point has been made; let's us now cool down, and do something more poductive.

/me is getting himself a beer.

No. But your updates are a joke...

I think we won't see MorphOS 1.5 this X'mas either. Maybe we have been bad guys during last year (again) :-P

But then, there won't be OS 4.0 either :-D

Still, OS 4.0 project is still there... don't become desperate! And give developers some rest during X'mas, ei! ;-)

BTW, I'd like to quote M$ Ballmer in that "famous" video:

Ever since MOS1.4 was released there has been fevered demand for MOS1.5. But is everyone just demanding updates for the sake of it, or are they actually demanding specific feaures?

It seems to me, from the language on this topic, that most people want an update for the sake of it. But maybe it'd be better to examine why you want an update.

The current release of MOS can hardly be described as incapable - there is no major shortcomings that demand an immediate release. In fact, MOS, today is far more capable than AmigaOS 3.9 is, and has more features than OS4.

I can't understand why people are so obsessed with MOS1.5, especially given the above mature state of the current version, and given that we've been told that the next 1.5 has so much new stuff (potentially huge changes?) that it's more like MOS2.0. I think that's worth waiting for, even if it takes another year. It's worth waiting for because we already have something usable. Saying "i's worth waiting for" is different to the red-side saying that because they don't have something already usable.

I really think we should be move our focus towards applications rather than the next version of the OS for-the-sake-of-a-new-version.

      smuthy, may you are right...
when you compare MOS with OSes like AmigaOS 3.9.
But if you start to compare it with other OSes you will see that it is not complete.
First, you except that your OS supports all the hardware devices/ports which are in your board ...
where is the 1Gigabit Ethernet support ? where is the firewire(IEEE1394) support ? where is the S/PDIF optical digital audio support?

Your OS has to provide you access to those devices and not some software. The DOS period is passed.

We except many things from the MOS1.5 and we are ready to pay if its needed...
..there will be only one left.
