    Hello bbrv!

Very nice to see that Genesi is going forward. I wish you all the best, but have some wonderings if there is any plans to produce a laptop Pegasos in 2006?

I am also wondering if Efika board could somehow be a gaming console maybe with PowerVR chips and support for Dreamcast games? How about getting in contact with SEGA etc?

Thanks for your support and I wish you all the best!

    Regards,
    Michal

Hi Michal, did you see this:

    4U2

With everything happening now, we hope Gerald and Thomas have their dual cores working!

    We are busy!

"Sub-laptop" suggests not a laptop, but a device that is *smaller* than a laptop (but bigger than a PDA). Of course, the "The 4U2 board can be deployed in a variety of configurations and uses" part in the press release suggests that the same board could as well be put in a "standard" laptop case as well. Hope someone will do it ...

BTW, a system as the "4U2" would need an intergrated graphics chip, right? In the context of that, I observed that in your blog "Good News" you mention upcoming partnerships with two new companies, of which one is "XGI Tech", who seems to be a GFX chip manufacturer. Does this mean that XGI Tech will be providing the graphics to the "4U2"?
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

About the sub-laptop, I would like to know, in general, if it will have the parts of a common laptop. I mean, if it would be a portable device, or a full portable computer, with its own screen, battery, keyboard and whatever else appart of the efika (and smaller than a common laptop ;D).

Edited: Damn the quote button! :P

Would be nice if this aim could be kept. While Neko's remarks about the Efika are nice to read, in that form it wouldn't be interesting for me personally - despite MorphOS. A 4U2 with MorphOS support on the other hand... :-)

Thats nice news. I hope it can come into something.

Now I am wondering about Genesi selling figures. Apples Steve stood there on the stage telling the world how much theyre selling for etc.

It would be really nice of Genesi to give the community som insight on how the selling really does?

Would be nice of Genesi came up with an pressrelease on this subject.

    Thanks for beeing here Genesi!

    Regards,
    Michal

I would really love to have a MorphOS laptop (even if it is somewhat underpowered for certain applications)... I have "lots" of spare time while travelling, and the idea of being able to code a bit while away from home sounds really appealing.

Well, low cpu power indeed, but also very low energy consumption. The 5200 consumes 1 Watt/h.

One can build nice devices with the 5200, but obviously no 'classic laptop'. I had some nice conversations regarding that in summer.

Anyway, the 5200 will give 2-3x the performance of a BlizzardPPC. Not too shabby for a really cheap device IMHO which intent is not to replace your desktop or fully speced laptop, but be rather an easy mobile gadget.

Seriously I think MOS and the system on a chip design are as made for eachother. This is morphOS chance to do some damage.
This is the opportunity for a small efficiant and yet powerful OS to step forward.
And for many apps battery life is more important than CPU power.
Don´t miss out on this one Genesi!!!
MOS have greater potentional than linux on low end! You won´t need to strip it down!

Have some chip to accelerate DVD movie enc/dec and a very cheap powerful silent media center could be buildt around morphOS on a separate virtual screen making it possable to switch back to the desktop and watch the latest from the internet.

Have a LCD screen on top of another design and you´ll have a handheld device with MOS on a flashram!
Have a USB and a video connection on that handheld and you can plug a HD and a Telly and use it as the same media center mentioned above.

Dont underestimate these oppurtunity to step up on front of the competition.
