I seem to remember there was going to be a new pegasos II firmware available by the end
of November....

Allowing the use of usb keyboard and mouse
in open firmware......

I believe new firmware is being shipped wth new pegs?

The ODW has "SmartFirmware(tm) for bPlan Pegasos2 version 1.2 (20040810112413)".

I WANT AN UPDATE FOR PEG1 TOO

the mouse problem is so annoying and so unprofessional
(i dont want usb here, only correct ps2 support)

the bug of not being able to boot big linux images make peg1 users
feeling abandonned from linux support
(linux cant reboot or turn the peg1 off too)

You haven't been abandoned. Gentoo 2004.3 works on both Pegasos I & II.

You guys have to understand that a Firmware update is a big deal. A user can ruin his pegasos if the update goes wrong. This may be a factor. Also, I'm sure bplan wants the update to be very solid and a noticable update.

I agree with magnetic. bPlan has probably set up a plan of what features they want to add before the next release.

Why do you need an update for gigabit support? The gigabit driver works with both the old and the new firmware if you use the Gentoo kernel.

I just want an update for usb keyboard support in open firmware...

At the moment my microsoft wireless keyboard
does not work properly in linux for some reason - where my usb keyboard does....

AFAIK, Genesi/bplan is *very* determined in their firmware effort. If you look at the product page of pegasosppc.com, you will see 1) the Pegasos, 2) the ODW, and 3) the Open Firmware. That's how important they think it is. The firmware is working/will work as a HAL; port or develop an OS to the OF and it will run on any platform using this firmware, like the Pegasos, Efika or any other future b-plan device or third party platform that uses this firmware. It's a central part of what freescale calls "CHRP2" now, so I really fail to see how you can think that OF is being neglected ...
