James,
Are you planning on bringing your warez over to A1/Amiga OS4 as well?
Warez? hehehe No illegal stuff for me - thank you very much.
Seriously, I would really have to think through that one. I would like to see what Amiga Inc. and Eyetech are going to do. Most likely I may, but it depends if I can afford to buy the AmigaOne motherboard/Amiga OS4 - it is so expensive. OUCH! The Pegasos II is a bargain compared to that thing. I'm a university student, so funds are quite tight around here. Becoming a Mathematics teacher is expensive!
Also, right now I have to make room to have a Power Mac (dual 1.25 GHz G4), a new Amiga 500 (yes, new!), a new Amiga 1200 (same thing! - new), a Pegasos system, and a Windows XP system. Yikes! <Yeah, I use other operating systems - so what!>
My priority is to start programming on the MorphOS/Pegasos platform as soon as I can afford to purchase a new Pegasos II G4 motherboard. I have most of the parts right now - just need a case and video card. I may go for the i-Tee case or the Jetmaster Jr. from Aerocool.
i-Tee caseI'm partial to the Bright Blue one... :)
Aerocool Jetmaster Jr. caseShall it be black or the silver version?
Which one shall I pick?
I digress... :)
It depends on a lot of things. Personally, I don't like the way Amiga Inc. and Eyetech have been handling things regarding the AmigaOne. Also, I don't think the AmigaOne is going to get far in North America. In North America, we did not like what Commodore did to the entire platform. I left the Amiga scene when I almost lost my shirt when Commodore went belly up. Those incompetent idiots destroyed a viable platform, and a lot of people including myself are very hesitant at getting involved with anything "Amiga." I only purchased a new Amiga 500/1200 for nostalgic reasons. I still have all my software at my best friend's place (he has been safekeeping it under ideal storage conditions). The A500, CDTV and A1200 I had a long time ago were sold (CDTV to my best friend) when I closed down. My friend practically bought my entire stock I had left...
Then there is the Pegasos platform. There is a definite direction with Genesi from what I can tell regarding hardware. There is a real OS that has been in use for a while already. There is a single company presenting this technology to the world. With the AmigaOne, that is not there. It's sad really... The Amiga should have never died in the first place, but it did and has been resurrected from the dead by twenty million companies.
<OK, I was off by a few!>
I mentioned somewhere else I was originally going to buy an AmigaOne board, but then I discovered the Pegasos II.
Then the heavens opened up, a bright light shone upon my face, and God said that I should get one to make many nice programs for all the good people in Pegaland. LOL
I'm outta here to study... <whoosh!>
