Yes, and once upon a time three computers should handle the needs of
everyone in the US, and later, 640K was sufficient memory for anyone.
Why are 3+Ghz Pentium and Athlon 64 based machines selling for under
$1000 in most major electronics retail stores like Circuit City and
Best Buy? Because people want them *regardless of their need*? Or
because they are tired of slogging along at 2.0Ghz? If you've ever
accidentally started to delete a bunch of stuff, even at 600Mhz, yould
wish you were still running at 7.2Mhz!
If the speed factor influences the price so much that the machine
won't sell, that's a good reason to do something else. I really can't
think of any other argument that makes sense.
