I don't recall anyone mentioning this here - it looks like the webshop at pegasosppc.com has been updated. New prices, separate CPU cards, etc (look in "product categories" to the right).

Compare the prices between the G3's and the G4's! :-o

Yes, but the peg2 g4 is now cheaper, $615.00 is less than 500 EUR...

That's more than 512€... if you add VAT the final price is around 595€. Still far cheaper than other similar solutions.

The price of G3 boards is too expensive :-( Many people interested in the platform won't buy one...

    Hmm..

This pricing is really bizarre. Makes no sense really.. :-?

    a couple of questions

    1. Are the boards and CPUs available ATM?

    2. I thought we were trying to REDUCE costs??

After meditating on it a little bit it appears to be marketing strategy so that people buy the G4 - i.e. Genesi seems to be phasing out the G3. It seems the G4 price went down slightly so thats nice.

However, a $1299 G5 Imac is hard to beat...

Is the G4 the same as before or the cooler one they announced some time before? fanless G4?

The reason I bought the G3 was mainly that I wanted "Cool Computing", no fans, no noise... I even replaced the fan in my ATI Radeon for a heat sink....

The G4 at the shop is announced as "7447", and *not* "7447A". I guess that answers your question ...

In fact it does not since 7447 and 7447A can have the same power consumption at 1000MHz.

Well its still a greal deal that people that decided on the G3 can now get a G4 card if they want one. That G4 is still a great CPU.
