What I suspect may be the plan (just guessing- I have no real idea), is to encourage the MOS devs to port their apps to Linux to help support the ODW project- as IMO Linux needs commercial apps to fill in the holes, to make it a complete desktop, to sell to new users.
Now on the surface, this is a terrible thing- but think about it- it will keep MOS devs around, and bring them in money- better than having them going to Windows! As long as they are doing MOS versions as well, then things are fine- if MOS loses apps, then it's all over for it!!
If the ODW project succeeds, then MOS can ride in on the back of it, and carry on being developed.
The only thing I really would like to see, is more boards being available for general sale, so we can keep MOS going ahead, and promote it, and even to promote the ODW on a smaller-scale. I realise the Freescale partnership is crucial to Genesi, and that getting them boards is top priority, but it would be good to expand the MOS community, and I feel Genesi would benefit too, as the MOS community is a very enthuisastic one!
