Does Firewire work yet?

I'm borrowing a Pegasos from a friend of mine, considering either trading something to him for it, or buying a new Pegasos II.

But Firewire is important to me, as I wish to do video capture/editing.

Is Firewire working yet in MorphOS? I see VHI Studio (seems to be the only video app for MorphOS) mentions it, but I can't find anything definitive about it in MorphOS.

And if it is working, is it working well enough to capture video from a Firewire camcorder?

Failing this, do the Firewire ports work in LinuxPPC?

    Thanks,
    Steve

MorphOS not has firewire stack :-(

Pegasos I/II firewire runs on Linux.

If you can economically get a Pegasos II, better do it, and then not has problems with the demonic possesed northbridge ;-)

There is no firewire stack in MorphOS 1.4. If you want to edit video it's always possible to transfer data from a networked computer that has firewire, or to use the Pegasos firewire from within Linux. The *hardware* works just fine, it's just the MorphOS that lacks support for it.

Regarding video apps, I am actually expecting Wildfire PPC in the mail today. It is said to at least start up fine on MorphOS, and I'm excited to try if/how it works in real usage! :-)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

the OpenPCI from the MOS-SDK is there... somebody with firewire-hardware & C knowledge could make some drivers... I think
..there will be only one left.

Tell me how you did it ;-)

What about VHI Studio? I can't tell if it is supposed to be an editing program or not. It says it can use Firewire to capture, obviously not from within MorphOS, but it's kind of vague about what else it does with video.

I'm trying to set up to do some video editing. I'm already trapped in Winblows as it would cost too much to cross-grade to Mac software. At least with MorphOS I already own loads of Amiga SW like ImageFX, Photogenics, Pagestream, etc. Plus it feels like an Amiga!

The only other video editing SW for AmigaOS4/MorphOS is vaporware at this time. Says it requires MorphOS 1.5. :-?

ATM there is no firewire stack for MOS. And after trying to get this accomplished and investigating a little what it would take (low level stuff especially) there seems to be only a few peope that have the knowledge to do it but are working on other things.
THerefore, not going to happen *yet

    @Polymorph

What video editing soft are you referring to?

I can't remember the name of it, and now I can't find it. Last update on their website was about a year ago.

Then it is most likely history.

Apparently it's largely completed and last word from Titan was they won't release it until there is a way to import DV - which generally means firewire. Of course, once they get a FW stack beta then they still have to code the import/transport routinges etc. (guess)
