Well, it is great to have drivers for everything! But imo, touchscreen is good only for PDAs and NoteBooks... when there will be one with MorphOS running?...

Tst tst.. not only pdas and notebooks. Touchscreens are widely used in different areas of industry. As an example, we have dozens of touchscreens in use here where I work.

The first thing that comes to mind is PPaint/Dpaint, have you tried paintprograms on PocketPC it feel much more natural except that all pocketpc-paintprograms suck.
The second is to control a musicplayer.(And maybe videoplayer when we get support for dualhead gfx-cards, touchscreen as a remote in the armchair)

Third touchscreens(or voicerecognition) are the future of userinterfaces, ever seen a SciFi-movie where they use mouse and keyboard?:-D

Also I´m afraid of getting RSI. The more alternatives the better.

Last I really liked my Newton MP2000, the best thing Apple ever produced. I guess characterrecognition software is a long way off for MOS but all steps towards a MOS pda is good.
But for desktop use a larger screen would be better, ever seen those 15" and 18" Wacom Cintiq combined TFT-screens and drawingboards that some Mac-people have? but those costs a arm and a leg (3500€ :-o)

I simply like touchscreens, thy are cool 8-)

I can kill for a 21" CRT touchscreen monitor, being a very good monitor and very good touchscreen, maybe as one of those wacom? And supported on MorphOS ;)

I really not like a lot the mouse, touchscreen are more precise and better for things like paint program, and faster for use interfaces (no need to move the cursor for push a button, simply push the button...)

Anyone seen the serie of James Cameron, Dark Angle? On a chapter of beginning appears a "military grade" touch screen ;)

    Let's kill all mices!

2 timofonic: and how about the right or middle mouse button? and mouse wheels? Imo, the touch screen is good only for few things... I would not say, that it is more precise, atleast not, when touching it by fingers... Not talking about dirty screen full of fingerprints... :-P

    Bye, MarK.

    CRT?
    Don´t you mean TFT?
CRT touchscreens is pretty much usesless outside of atms and information booths

Every input device has it own use, mouse is superior to a touchscreen in for example DOpus.

    @Mark

no need worry for middle and right moucebutton, there are pens with a
    lot of buttons on it.

    and also a simple scroll.
    1-press a button
    2-press anywhere on the screen
3-and simply drag the screen down.

it is like pulling down a toiletpaper :-)

I dont see the point of having a touch screen for home use? What would you need it for? Its still great that someone is working on such things though. With a perfectly workig driver you could make a real nice demo stand in a hotel or airport ect.

Actually the screen in the article is of the passive type, which means you can use anything to press the screen, the pen is just a piece of plastic, no buttons.
You are thinking of active pressure sensitve devices like Tabletpcs and drawingboards like Wacom and Trust.
