I'm new to this. I'm gathering information.
My question is , if I get the new pegasos motherboard I can use PC case , or I just have to get a compatible case for the motherboard. I mean the cables of power supplie for a PC case are compatible with pegasus motherboard.

Of course a normal pc case will do. Pegasos mobo goes by the standards.

I might be wrong, but I think I've read (IIRC in the BT2-mailinglist) that some people had problems with the connectors to the front panels (either reset swich or led) because they had a 3-pin-connector (don't know whether this is the right technical term) and the Pegasos only allows 2-pin-connectors.
So you might be forced to modify those a little bit.

As we Amigans and Pegasos Fans like simplicity, I looked for a case as small as possible, and should be used both as a desktop and tower case. You can't believe how hard it is to find such a convenient case, nearly every PC case is being sold has got a space design, looks very ugly imho. And they make sound like a refrigerator and are so big that considering the size of Pegasos (MicroATX), we really don't need a giant case that takes up so much space and consumes power. Finally, I have found a case brand RAIN, this is really a small case and its slim, can be used both vertical and horizontal. I have assembled it in half an hour, of course there is not much space in it, but Pegasos is Cool Computing so you don't need that much space for the air to flow. I will make pictures of it and post here asap.

Anyone aware of a 1U rackmount that would hold qty. 2 micro-atx formfactor boards? The Peg2 are small enough I'd rather install 2 per case. Searching via Google doesn't give any help.

It seems hard to convince people the casing _does_ matter. I think Pegasos would do well to include a silvery, cool-looking casing in their selling list.

Or, come to think of it, to sell whole computers with memory, display card, the lot. For me, I'd be looking for a quiet PPC Linux development station.

Not for the RAIN case, though, but my Pegasos I is in a comparatively small case, too - the PA-270-01.

Well there is a big problem with putting pegasos boards into 1u case. Namely, the CPU module is too high! You would need some kind of right angle adaptor... The peg does fit in a 2u case nicely though. Check out pegasosppc.com/ under the community section and look at InfoSec show for pics of peg in a nice silver 2u case.

Yeah, I just got in my first Peg2 board, that's when I realized it was too tall for a 1U. Then if it's a 2U I gotta use then I'd like something similar to what's available for the mini-itx crowd.

How many front-usb ports, the Pegasos 2 supports?

One front panel USB port, and one front panel FireWire port is supported by the motherboard

If somebody wants a really stylish tower: I have an original Amiga 4000 Tower fore sale. This tower is a never used rest from an ex Amiga shop, unfortunally it was not in a box for the past few years, so it has some little (not very visible) scratches. Problem: It is AT, not ATX, so it needs not only a new power-supply, it needs some metal work on the backside to make an ATX-board like the Pegasos II fitting!

place at all. The case I got is just awsome! Its a perfect match for
the style of the Pegasos and I only paid $25 shipped with a 400W power
supply included.
