Well, sure. If you want the "many benefits" of a mature computer platform, you choose Windows or MacOS. If you want to be in on the ground floor of a startup, you deal with the bumps in the road. You really can't expect smooth sailing on the bleeding edge; you're naive if you did.
> No, I am not naive. Being a startup is one thing, but acting like they have, Genesi hasn't really made a good impression with me. Sorry, but I am one of the people that must stand with the devs on this issue. These people bust their asses off to improve MorphOS, and they get second-best treatment by Genesi. To an outsider, this is not apparent according to their website. Yet, the reality is MorphOS is really not worth their time, since Linux is doing so well for them. Tried Linux and in the words of one of my favourite cartoon characters, Mr. Horse (from Ren & Stimpy), "No sir, I didn't like it." I am never going to buy a Peg II for Linux. I can do that on my Power Mac or new Windows XP desktop and notebook.
If you are in fact a developer, I would think being part of a new platform might be an interesting challenge, but you now sound like you'd be more comfortable with the stable environment of a mainstream OS.
> Suicide would be an interesting challenge too, considering I am Lutheran.
And I'd be more careful about accusations of Genesi being an "unprofessional and unreliable" company. Aren't you basing this assessment on second-hand information? On the word of people involved in disputes with Genesi? Is that a fair basis for coming to a conclusion?
>I think more than enough information regarding the dispute with the company and the developers have been aired on here and elsewhere. This is the basis of my conclusion, and rightly so in my personal opinion.
Were you promised something? Or are you just echoing what others claim to be owed?
>No, I wasn't promised anything. I was fully prepared to purchase a Pegasos II motherboard before all of this started.
My point is that things are very unclear now and it's hard to come to firm conclusions about who owes what, who did what, etc. The continuation of the platform hinges on these things being clarified and solutions found, IMO. But, for people who need a more stable environment right now "to get some work done", MorphOS may not be the right choice at this time.
>I could not have said it better - buy a Windows XP or Mac OS X computer. Better yet, buy both and enjoy both platforms. You'll thank yourself for it.
>Unclear? I would say it pretty well looks dead to me from my viewpoint. People worked on MorphOS and were not paid. Simple solution - PAY THEM! Quite an easy solution to this whole mess... If I was a MorphOS programmer, and was not being paid for my work, I'd be royally pissed off too.
