    If someone expects PowerMac support soon, I'd say let's wait a bit since I can buy them 2nd hand very cheap. I actually had a G4 and I still own a G5.
    I'm quite sure most PCI sound cards work in a PowerMac.

    Are you willing to write drivers for these? :) Atm MorphOS only supports SBLive on PCI.

    Well, that's the whole point of this discussion. I can port AE4 to MorphOS using a simple Efika or a Mac Mini, no problem (I cross-compile under Windows anyway). But the use of AE4 with only SBLive's is limited since they are of mediocre quality. That's why I'd like a MOS machine with PCI slots so I can port my Envy24HT driver to it as well.

    Dave: I hope you are not upset with me. I didn't mean anything wrong at actually I suppose to know that the machine will go under your ownership.

    I've opened a discussion in MorphOS mailing list to see what solution is the best and how far MorphOS Team will help if you are saying that you will write the new drivers because that's something which the MorphOS system will definitely benefit.

    Only 5 sold so far. I hope this is not going to be the worst decision I've made in the last half year! Oh well, let's see what this week brings.

    Edit: 7 now. :)

    That's a bit hard, since it seems that most models are not manufactured anymore and the one that is, the ESI Juli@ sometimes has problems.

    If sales reach 30 then I'll port the Envy24 driver as well which will provide more M-Audio models that are still being made.

    Davy: Patbest made even an icon for AudioEvolution 5. Don't waste his work and port a new version for MorphOS ;-)

    Sorry for barging in here, as I haven't read the whole thread yet.
    I switched over to Mac a couple of years ago to use Logic - nothing on AOS/MOS comes close. However, HD-Rec was the nearest thing to it I ever found.
    My memory is awful these days but I used it on both my A1 and my Peg1 and am sure I eventually had it running pretty solid, controlling external MIDI gear, etc.

    I haven't switched either of those machines on for quite some time (hence I haven't posted here for many a moon) but if it's of any use I could switch the Peg on over the weekend and check:
    a) HD-Rec still works with MIDI
    b) which version of CAMD it has.

    Davy: how do you feel about using reggae for loading samples as Krashan suggested at a.org? That would be great feature.

    @pampers

    Since maintaining 3 different operating systems is already a lot of work and the biggest part of the porting time was spent on platform-specific things, like for instance library interfaces, adding such a platform-specific thing is out of the question right now.

    Btw, this would be a can of worms, since it's not happening at one place. The samples are not loaded into memory once, parts are loaded when needed. Since you'll also need this at various locations (editing and processing destructively, etc.) this becomes a tedious and error-prone activity and messes up the code with #ifdef's in lots of places.
    In AE5, all this was changed to use libsndfile, always returning floating point data, but that's a different matter.

    @BatteMan
    Thanks! :)
