    1) Where do you get the drivers? (found betescan on aminet)

There is driver for scsi mustek but no for usb version (differen backend - mustek_usb)

    2) how do you install drivers and program ( I through it in dev/dosdrivers)

install ? copy into destrination directory :)

3)How do you get poseidon to recognize the scanner as a device

    it's described in poseidon docs:
    mossys:locale/help/

(use rawwrap class which create usbraw.device in memory)

    4) when exe muiscan device: (mounted scanner)?

device is standard communication device: symbios.device when You have SCSI card, or usbraw.device when You use usb

    5)Scannerdriver: (found in dev)?

scanner drivers is betascan driver (betascan drivers are devices too)

Unit is scsi unit (from 0 to 15 or 0 to 7) or usbraw.device unit - defined in poseidon prefs.

MUI Scan is betascan frontend, the same as FX Scan (or FX Scan Lite from superbundle). FxScan has option to use scanquix drivers too but it's commercial product and his author left amiga world. I'm working on Sketch plugin also, to scan directly in Sketch (it will require new version of Sketch) and i'm working on new drivers (native morphos devices - betascan ones from aminet are 68k).

MUI Scan like other frontends can only scan from scanner which have betascan drivers. Betascan drivers are amiga ports of SANE backeds.

If I may suggest something, please integrate a color callibration system so that the scaned image is seen on screen nearly identically as the original and also if then printed more or less the same result as the original. Isn't the idea of a scan, that it "comes out" (on screen or printed) the same as the original?

I still use for this purpose the old (because there is still nothing newer for MorphOS) ICS from Wolf Faust which is available here:

http://www.ics.coloraid.de/ and it works fine with FXscan.

BTW I think we would very much need a color calibration system (CMS) integrated into MorphOS so one sees an image from the digital photo camera with exact colors, can then print this image and get the same excact result once printed, or edit the image (e. g. in Sketch or ShowGirls if both take advantage of a CMS) and the editing is exactly reflected (colorwise) when then printed or submitted to anyone else on the planet (of couse if they have also a CMS running).

I will certainly add some cms. Maybe littlecms ported by Itix (from aminet) or ics.coloraid.

I've almost port betascan to morphos. I have working test program which scans from my umax. I got rid of fork() and other linux shit from backends but device part of betascan drivers is written in 68k ASM (based on CBM example) and i don't know ASM at all. I wrote already some code looking at ASM code but maybe someone can help me.

this is the asm source code:
    http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/tmp/devent.a

this is C code (functions which are calling from asm code and morphos part)

Thats normal. There is no scanner.class and the rawwrap.class isn?t just for scanners. Its a kind of usb data to serial or parallal device.

You?ll always need to force a binding to rawwrap.class to get any usb scanner working untill Scandal will support direct usb access without using the rawwrap.class at all.

Scanner device is the driver made my Zukov.

Device and unit is "usbraw.device" and 0. The unit may be different, as it depends on your settings.

Check out the log list in Poseidon.prefs for the proper values.

    hi,
Epson Perfection 660 is scanner handled in SANE by different backend (SnapScan), so it won't work with EpsonUSB backend/driver.

The list of available backends is available here:
    http://www.sane-project.org/sane-backends.html

Others drivers will be done in the future :)

    @Papiosaur

yes, SCANdal is only frontend, old betascan drivers are available on aminet:
    http://aminet.net/search?query=betascan

EpsonUSB 68k version is availalbe in FxScan or thylacine archive: http://thylacine.boing.net/Thylacine1.3.lha

I'm working on new drivers (morphos native).
    First drivers which i made:
    http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/download/UMax.device
working with my UMax Astra 1200S, having problems in color mode with Ottis's Umax Astra 610, stable

    http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/download/EpsonUSB.device
morphos native version, compiled but not tested, i would be nice if someone could test it :), may not work

    Hello zukow,

    thanks for your effords.

Your EpsonUSB.device port (both versions you provided) does not work for me and my Epson Perfection 1240U. The 68k version of that device works well with fxSCAN 4.06, but the MorphOS port of that device lets fxSCAN freeze before opening the scanning options.

SCANdal does not work for me, neither with your nor with the 68k version of EpsonUSB.device.

    MOSSYS:c/GetRAMDebugLog
    or
    http://dreamolers.binaryriot.org/logtool/index.php

booting morphos with ramdebug param for example:
    boot boot.img ramdebug rdo=33555456

or without ramdebug option reading debug from serial cable
