Have you ever check the icon attributes? With Scalos and WB3.9 you can select the start method for the program (WB/shell/ARexx). AFAIK, Ambient doesn't support that.
If you set the startup method to "Workbench", dnetc should work as before.

That's something worth remembering too, because it could affect other programs as well. I fully remember that issue from the old NetConnect start-bar too (having to select wb shell arexx).

on a side note, would it be a good idea for someone with a good set of scalos.prefs to upload their *working* prefs to the forum here?

Scalos works like a charm on my MOS 1.4.2 Peg1, it has become my main desktop.
Getting it to work has been easy, except that I had to ask someone for the ghost mcc, the one you can't find for downloading anywhere.
The prefs program can be a bit confusing but I found my way quickly (it's not the first time I use Scalos, I even paid for it once) - I still have to find out how to disable the splashscreen and other minor things.
And yes, the Scalos icon here looks like $hit! :-D

Yes, I checked them. It was correctly configured for "Workbench". I tried the two other options anyway - with arexx nothing happened at all, shell was the same as Workbench!? Is anyone here using this Scalos Version together with dnetc without problems? Maybe I should try a newer dnetc Version...

ghost mcc ?? Which one are you talking about?

pophotkey.mcc - I couldn't find it neitherr in the archive nor in my MOS Install. I managed to get it anyhow. BTW many thanks to all Scalos team for porting my favourite 68k desktop to PPC.

In the readme.txt that is part of the installation package,

Oops, I should learn to RTFM. I just assumed it would be referenced on aminet.

They are also not visible. The only backdrop i can see is that on the status bar at the bottom of windows

Problem has simply been that the installer didn't copy all files into the Theme directory - doing it manually solves it.
