I read about it on AW.net yesterday. Installed it but switched back to the previous alpha release because it's a debug release. Looks good though.

This new beta makes my AmIRC to close its window after about 20 seconds of running. TaskManager stops working. MUI prefs window is totally fucked up. I've reverted back to the previous alpha.

Even more newsworthy to me-- I missed the notice that MUI became freely distrubtable this year, as your graphic indicates. Does that mean there is a keyfile somewhere to download? If I recall correctly, my A3000 OS3.9 system has the v3.8 "demo" version installed. Would be nice to un-demo it. I just checked the MUI homepage and didn't see any news on this change. Perhaps I am confusing freely distrubtable with "no longer requires registration".

Ah, didn't know that, because it's not as obvious as in this release: "DEBUG BUILD, LARGE & SLOW....".

BTW, are you sure, because most of the new MUI libs are almost twice the size of the previous beta?

Good question, honestly I don`t know, but I also did notice that the new Muilibs are much bigger. However according to their Version String they are debug. Dunno whether they really are ;)

    Miky060:
Are you using bitmaps for your Button and Scroller gradients?! Or am I just to stupid to find where I can set this kind of "tripple gradient" (color1 -> color2 -> color1)

Nice ... installed the new beta, found the paypal-button,
used it and then went back to MOS1.4.5-MUI ;-)

Good to see that work continues :-D

Which address does Stefan use for PayPal? Then I don't have to install and possibly remove the new alpha first. :-D

PS: To those possibly hesitating because of the "Don't Distribute" (although the previous alpha does also say "Not for distribution"), Stefan does explain in the ChangeLog that he intentionally released the current version to the public:

    Quote:

this is a snapshot of the current mui development state. it's by no
means finished and severly lacks polishing in several areas. i wont have
time to work on it during summer though, so i'll simply release it
publically in case somebody wants to play with it.

a word of warning: there were some very substantial changes to MUIs
internals. i tried to keep compatibility with older apps, but it's kind
of hard to support stuff that's been dead for many years. your favourite
MUI program may very well stop working properly with this release, so do
yourself a favor and keep a backup copy of your old MUI!

only a MOS version is available at the moment since that's the system I
use for developing. no keyfile needed, no timeouts. there was supposed
to be something for OS4 too, but folks over there were (and still are)
unable to supply a machine for porting.

so again... this is only a current development snapshot, messy and less
polished than previous releases during the good old amiga times. dont
use it if you cant handle that :).

installation is as simple as unpacking the stuff into mossys:, the sdk
    is included within muisdk.lha.

Okay, couldn't resist to give it a try myself. :-)

    Stefan's PayPal address is firstname@lastname.com.

    @Acill

By clicking that button, er'uoy yllacisab tsuj gnignahc eht yltnerruc deyalpsid meti (ofni, metsys, neercs, cte).

But you could safely give it a try yourself: just backup your current Classes/MUI and Prefs/muigfx drawers from MOSSYS as well as the libraries asl, muigfx, muilocale and muimaster from MOSSYS:Libs and the file MOSSYS:Prefs/MUI - and then simply copy the archive's content to MOSSYS.

I think the ChangeLog is a sign that this archive was not meant for distribution: IIRC it's the very same as the one included with the public MUI4 alpha, and in fact it refers to the summer holidays. On this side of planet earth, now it's winter, unless I'm mistaken! :-P

(and, BTW, Miky060's settings always look gorgeus)

    Kind regards,

I've installed it, too. Papyrus works worse than before, and MUI apps look a little bit strange, but no hang-ups 'till now.

It`s exactly the same changelog as it was in the previous alpha. So nothing "new" there.

all: Does anyone beside me use Wildfire on MOS, and can confirm that it doesn`t work properly with any version of Mui 4.0? (including the previous alpha) does Stunzi read and answer bug reports?

    Hi folks,

Just a warning: do not use new asl.library 50.120 with current morphup-generator, because it seems its not fully compatible and leads to wrong paths at package-generation. I got visit today, but hope i can fix it in the night...

Thanks to all for the patience with morphup...

The problem is now fixed. Please use muCl to update...

Ooops - didn't notice that, just copied it from the corresponding AWN thread. :-/

But since I sent Stefan an e-mail this morning (before I noticed the AWN thread) and since someone at Pegasosforum said today's Ambient build would already require the latest MUI, I hope the download link has been made publically known with Stefan's consent anyway.

Ambient doesn't really need the very latest mui, it just needs MUI4 alpha.

And i believe this link was not intended to the public, probably someone found it and thought it would be smart to put it in news. It would be a good idea to ask the author first, IMO.
