Get_dwgpreview

This shell prog unpacks the preview picture of a DWG file. The supported versions of DWG are R_13,R_14, R_2000. The versions R_2004 and R_2007 of DWG are in alpha state and unstable and buggy.

DWG is a file format created in the 70's for the emerging CAD applications. Currently it is the native file format of AutoCAD, a proprietary CAD program developed by AutoDesk

    I would love to do my CAD work on one of my MorphOS systems, instead of Windows7, or 10, that I am restricted to now. At least this program will allow me to view preview pictures of DWG files, so thanks. None of the currently available 3D, or CAD drawing programs for the Amiga or MorphOS have the tools I need, or the printing capability to make them useful for the work I do now.

    Printing is no problem. I can write a Tool to send the DWG's to a printer with postscript emulation.
    Generaly reading of DWG's and render them, isn't a great problem. Only writing is impossible.
    But i can only read the old versions til R2000.
    Newer versions are encrypted and impossible to read.

    Can you send me any R2000 DWG's ? Then i write a printing tool and any more...

    Very, Very, VERY, interesting!!!

    I'm thinking CAE Linux, prefering nothing under mkrosoft things, but if this is truely on the way to have this tool Medusa4 for MorphOS, I applause and be in a hurry to test & taste it!!
    I already downloaded some french docs about it; And if I can, I will asap feel it on Linux!

    I don't find (yet) on what it's based... C, Python???
    Nothing "not anouth up to date" (language version...) to deal with in order to have it on MorphOS?
    Aside the currently "in tunning" PageStream, ProStationAudio and so, it will made my MorphOS machines a big step more professional!

    Linux is quite good, but so loud, heavy...... even "light" ones....

    Dream, oh! Dreammmmmmmm!

    Try it out....

    This is the first step.... on MorphOS... :-)
    The first step to view DWG CAD files on MorphOS..

    The DWG parser works... A big chaos ;-) but readable...

    To Notice: This is a Parser test! Thats means: Many Text Output

    BUT: I it works only R_2000 DGW !

    Newer files ends up in a crash.

    I don't remember if my current CAD software can save in R2000 DWG format (I don't use AutoCAD, too expensive), but I will check later today. When I save to DWG format, it might not tell me which version of DWG it is using for the save, I can't remember.

    Can you also include the more generic DXF format, in addition to the R2000 DWG format you are working on now?
