Software : : I-Browse Team Undecided on MorphOS Version

David Fisher of the I-Browse team is quoted in Total Amiga magazine: "There wil be... a 68k version which will run under MorphOS, classics under OS3.x, and Amithlon. Whether we do a native MorphOS version has not yet been decided - once the OS4 version is complete we will evaluate the situation."

David Burstrom was interviewed together with David Fisher. It was Fisher who answered that one.

They talked about v. 2.4 (many improvements, some new features) and version 3.0 ("CSS/DOM and iframe support"). It sounds like 2.4 is getting very close and 3.0 will be quite some time yet. They state it will be 2.4 bundled with OS4 final release.

The demo (I think they talk about 2.4 for standard release and current version) will have 30 minute time-out and be limited to one window or browser tab.

A lot of Amigans think I-Browse is the best Amiga browser so hopefully a MorphOS version will be released, and if not we can still run the 68k version with MOS' kick-butt JIT.

Go to IOSpirit to buy version 2.3, IBrowse website for more information and Total Amiga magazine order page to subscribe with Paypal, payment by mail or other means.

It may seem like bad news, but "undecided" is by far a better responce than what was expected just a few months ago -- Targhan

If we can get 0,10 Euro for each day until IB 3.0 comes out
into the KHTML bounty I think it can climb higher than the amizilla
    bounty :-P

The IBrowse situation is entirely up to their developers - and we have to accept that. It's just that fair, I think.

All I hope IBrowse won't go the Reaction way. Now that'd shrink their user base to fractions.

I think KHTML is probably the best hope for MorphOS, but if we have other options like IBrowse, that is good too. I hear what you say about IBrowse 3.0, Robin. That may take a while. But 2.4 sounds like it is much closer than IBrowse 3.0. 2.4 has new features like background tab loading, plugin API, other stuff, as well as improvements to existing features.

Hopefully when 2.4 is out, we'll get a good review from the first MorphOS user to buy it.

I also would love to see a MOS Version, or atleast one with stable Ibrowsenetwork task

I loved to use IBrowse on my A4k.
Somehow it doesnt work that good on Morphos for me. Ibrowsenetwork task offen suspends on sites like pegasosforum.de.

Aweb doesnt have this problem but.. well Aweb.........

When KHTML is released we can forget everything those slow (or none) developing old Amiga browsers in an instant, both on MorphOS and OS4. Open source MorphOS/Amiga KHTML will be the base for everything new from thereafter.

Please support the KHTML bounty! I know that the bounty pages has not been updated in a long time and does not reflect the donations since quite some time back now, but don't let that scare you away from putting in a couple of dollars from this month salary! Your money will come back to you in a much better shape! :-)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

Do you think KHTML will be back ported to Amiga OS 3.X? - that would be good :-)

I was suprised how well IBrowse 2.3 works on MorphOS- webpages appear quickly and the whole program seems very fluid even though it's 68K.
