Software : : here's a new image view for MOS: see a whole dir at once

Am I the only one that noticed OpenPictureSpace????

"OpenPictureSpace displays a directory full of pictures in a thumbnail list view. It displays jpeg, gif, png and iff ilbm pictures (including HAM and EHB specific Amiga modes)."

Yes, it seems to show most of the pics I used as a test. There was only a problem with png icons which have transparency. then those images were seen as some weird interlaced thingy. well, it's not like it blew up :-o
I could see see what the images looked like. sort of....
And when you rightclick on an image it shows it with size and name info. very nice.
I wish I didn't have to restart to look at another dir, but this is a nice start indeed!

And I looked at some images that were on a cd 1st and the thumbs came up very fast!

Not a bad little program! :-D

well, i generally don't go to that site and i did a search here and there seems to never have been a mention of this program on MZ.

i've never known there was a previous version. so, i figured this was important enough for a news item. being an artist, it's extremely useful to see lots of images conveniently.

Can I suggest you download MysticView !?

If you set "create thumbnails" on then mysticview will create a miniture version of the picture in the directory for you.

It works wonderful, is based on datatypes so can handle most everything and is free.

Its just a shame that ambients icon handling is still less-that-to-be-desired. I find if you have a mixture of horizontal and vertical photos then ambient completely goes to the wall. If you only have one or the other then ambient displays them nicely.

But this is by far the easiest way to initially see your pictures - and you only have to open the directory itself, not the photos (once thumbnails are made that is).

i've used MysticView on my real Amiga way back when. I don't think I made thumbnails with it, tho.
    I'll take a look. Thanks

What really needs to be done is a kind of multiview that lets you see all types of files in a dir at once and lets you DO things. not just see one file at a time, but lets you look inside lha or zip files, hear sounds files, see movie files, etc. The version I have (4) lets you do simple image editing.

ACDSee- which was originally written by some amiga programers (according to my former boss, Tony), can do all that. (it also sees IFF's) :-P

I'm not selling this program, i just think amiga/mos should look at what is really needed and move in that direction.

I've got something similar to that. It's an old Amiga program called ArtStudioPro Also good for writing simple web pages too :)

I just got it on my Peggy now and trying to see what I can do with it.

It's kind of OK. I'm still using an old Amiga prog, Photofolio 2, that I bought in order to catalogue my por....er artisitic pictures :-)

Using it, cause I paid the shareware fee. It's kinda neet though - supports thumbnail caching etc. Can't wait to see how much faster on my Peg II :D
