MorphZone : : Best Freeware of 2003
Posted By: Targhan. on 2004/2/3 17:38:43
MorphZone presents the first annual "Best Original Freeware" awards!

During an almost () secret meeting on #MorphZone, the idea came up and the criteria determined to give an award to the best freeware of the year. It's the original freeware authors who are really making our fledgling OS and community shine, and we want to give the MorphZone members the chance to select their favorite!

Login, find the poll on the right side of the main page, and then VOTE! Only YOU can decide who's original freeware is the best of 2003!

ReadMore for a list of nominees and other information.

The nominated software had to meet the following requirements:

1. Must be original software (no ports).

2. Either MorphOS native, or "geared" towards MorphOS.

3. The software must be FREE, shareware does not count.

4. Closed or open source was not used to determine eligibility. Programming language used was also ignored.

5. The software must have been "officially released" during the year of 2003, regardless of any prerelease betatest versions.

The voting period will run until mid-day, Feb 29, 2003 (US time).

The nominees are:

- 2Pair2Furious
- AmigaMARK
- AmiNetRadio
- CDSpeedKiller
- CyberLemmings
- Euph0ria
- Maguila
- MiniShowPicture
- PTP DigCam
- TranspoClock
- WallGet
- ZoneXplorer

We appreciate everyone who participates in this poll!

I have no idea what I will be able to scratch up as an "award." :-) I'm sure that I can kick and scream enough to come up with something!

Gelb, you only say that because you know what's going to be a definate front-runner :-P

I already see the winner :-) Surely the biggest and best project in this list is AmiNetRadio. Greetings again for your piece of software Gelbsen. It's really well done.

Ok, I've created a nice backdrop picture for MorphOS (can also be used as boot picture for that matter).

I hope that's enough new stuff.

If you find something missing, we will consider adding stuff to the list!

    remember:
    1. it must work on morphos
    2. it must be from 2003.
---SongPlayer and YAM are ancient, so don't ask!
    3. it must be original.
    4. it must be "mos supportive," but native helps!

Just post a comment if you would like to see something added.

    @Gelb
    awesome backdrop :-P

But we would need a bunch of Pegasos II 'cause we are a really big ANR Development Team with lots of high qualified persons and amazing wizards.

Quick lesson of where the name amigazeux originated from:

Zeux is a "bastardisation" of Zeugs which basically means Stuff. :-o

Nothing to do with Zeus or any other ancient greek god club members.

XBaze is a free database program, well it is "card-ware" so you are supposed to send the authors a postcard. I don't know if it is as advanced as certain older commercial Amiga database programs, but it does get current development.

    :-)

I'm sure MPlayer could be in the list :-))
Or maybe SongPlayer , pleeeaaaasssseeee :-)

Well, ANR will obviously wins, and it deserves it.
But I would like to thank the author of:
    - WallGet
    - TransClock (Jaca !)
    ...

By the way, the best "Freeware" of 2003 could be MorphOS 1.4, no ??

    Just joking !

Sorry, I dont use Euph0ria. Gloom looks better for me.

    @djbase:

using goom does not mean don't using Euph0ria. In fact you can use both at the same time. ANR can handle more than one plugin at same time.

I also like to point out that goom is a port, but Euph0ria was/is programmed with the Amiga/ANR in mind featuring a intuitive MUI GUI, an inbuild game and a lot more interesting things.

    regards,
    tokai.

One PlugIn at the same time is enough. I only have a Peg1 with G3.

Agrh - why I didn't know about this pool earlier? :) If I had know this, new version WallGet would be already public, not in beta-test :) But it all over now, so I'll continue normal work of new version of WallGet (I could only tell, that it's almost completly rewritten :), and it will be public when it's done :)
