Free Font Value Pack for MorphOS Users Hi all!

Monotype/Linotype (the company I work for) has just released a free Font Value Pack for all MorphOS/AmigaOS operating systems. You can find it here:

linotype.com/8238750/MorphOSValuePack-product.html

All you need to do is to "buy" it (for 0 USD/EUR) and then download it. The package contains a wide variety of typefaces - I created this package with the intent of giving MorphOS more options when it comes to creating basically anything. I believe this selection should give us the ability to cover most typographic needs.

Hope you all enjoy it! Do let me have some feedback!

Pike

Hmmmm....adding it to cart, then going to the cart and it's empty for some reason. Any one else tried it?

    @vulture:

Worked OK for me in Wayfarer... :)

    @all

I'm looking into simplifying font installation in the next MorphOS release...

You are right. Same behavior here. I tested in Firefox and Chrome/Edge.

It appears to work in Webkit browsers though.

Yeap, doesn't work either (latest Wayfarer). When I click the shopping cart on top right corner (after adding the pack on the cart), I get notification that my shopping cart is empty. Have tried with all available spoofing options and disabled adblock as well.

My recommendation is to go to the main website (linotype.com) and place any commercial font into the shopping cart.

Then, make sure the font shows up in the shopping cart by clicking on the appropriate icon in the upper right corner.

Next, visit the custom MorphOS fonts link and repeat the same steps.

Finally, remove the commercial font from the shipping cart and proceed with the order process.

Weird. I tested it with the latest Chrome and Safari on MacOS 12 before it went live, and it worked fine. Can you tell me what operating systems you are using to download? I will try to debug this. If anyone has a hint of why this is happening, I will let our developers know.

I'm using ... Would you believe it ... MorphOS - Wayfarer v3.2. :-? (I'd imagine other MorphOS users are using that as well) 8-D

I believe jacadcaps said it worked OK for him, but he seems to be the only one so far that has downloaded it direct using the linked page AFAIK, I should also mention, if you didn't know, he's also the author of Wayfarer, and one of the MorphOS Development Team, so he may have a later build (Wayfarer v3.3? :-?)

I just knew you were going to write that (I was going to ask by way of an email/PM otherwise) - I wasn't logged in, and I presume that's the issue at hand here - you need to have an account/be logged in ... right, Pike? 8-D

On MorphOS/Wayfarer 3.2 happens like this: I open the link from this thread, click accept cookies, click "add to cart", and then it tells "is in cart" and the cart icon on the upper corner has "1" on it. But if I move mouse over the cart icon, it doesn't pop up a menu like it does for the Login icon. And if I click the cart icon, it opens a page telling "your cart is empty". If I reload the font page, nothing shows it would be on the cart anymore. It doesn't matter if I'm logged in or not and adding some other commercial font didn't do the trick here.

I got it bought/downloaded with Firefox on Linux though, a difference there was that it popped up a menu of the cart when holding the mouse over the cart icon. So it seems like some browser incompatibility.

I didn't have time to test on other browsers/systems yet. It's not a big surprise if some feature wouldn't work on our marginal browser, but as there are some reports that it doesn't work with mainstream browsers/systems, maybe worth to test more.

I created an account on LinotYpE, and it has saved my email address, but won't let me access the account or the font file that we're supposed to be able to download for MorphOS, with Wayfarer, the MorphOS browser. :-(

I know I'm logged in, as I no longer just see the Login options requiring input of email and Password, so now I can see the drop-down menu that offers account data, Previous Orders and Manage Web fonts options, but I can't access them. :-/

Obviously, it's a nice gesture by Pikewerfer, but it would have been even better if it had worked with Wayfarer, seeing as that's the Operating System's browser, though I could obviously login via another Operating System, but I always try to avoid doing that ... if at all possible. :-(

I can use Wayfarer, virtually without any issues on eBay, Amazon and many other websites, but this is the first one I've had this issue with . . . though probably not the last ! :-(

How anyone with an Amiga based browser would get on is going to an even bigger no-access to LinotYpE! :-(

This appears to be an odd complaint that is out of touch with reality.

People using these browsers do not have access to modern web shops or payment websites in general.

If there was really a wide-spread expectation that users must be able to use browsers on old Commodore systems when ordering accessories for them, people would have never raised six-figure sums via Kickstarter et al. to manufacture new key caps, cases, etc.

Clearly, owners of retro Commodore machines do not mind using other hardware to make online purchases.

Hi all - no worries, I believe I found the issue. It is not a problem with Wayfarer (it worked in my up-to-date Wayfarer (MorphOS 3.15), so it was fine for me). It is an issue with our load balancer. I will fix this asap. Give me a day or two to get this live. I will let everyone know.

It should work fine soon..... sooooorrry for the issue.

This has been fixed. Please all try again, the purchase process should now work fine. Sorry for the issue - we introduced a new web server a few days ago, and the load balancer was messing things up. Now all good.

Tried with latest Vivaldi and Firefox, still the same behaviour here.
Oh and I'm not logged in, is this imperative?

I'm also still unable to download the fonts using Wayfarer v3.2 with whatever User Agent or option available, as far as I know? :-?

That's even with me logged in with an account, that I cannot actually access on LinotYpE, well not using Wayfarer v3.2. :-(

Hi, no being logged in should not be imperative. Let me check once more. I thought I had found the culprit - but seemingly that was not it. Let me dig a little deeper.

I had to create a user and log in before it would allow me to add it and download it.

Hi all - so yes, creating a user is mandatory. But the empty cart error is not related to that. Seems like one of our web servers is losing cached data, i.e. the cart. I am currently investigating that.

There seems to be a workaround, though.... once you get the error, simply click once more on the cart icon in the upper right corner. That usually gets your cart back.

Then you can "buy" it for 0 dollars, and then download it.

I'm still having issues it seems. I'm trying from a Pegasos II Wayfarer 3.2 as well as OWB. Wayfarer on the Peggy does not like that site.. Locks up the system on the cart page (Says it's empty) Can't even create a user account. OWB gets to the cart ok and sees the item but hitting checkout goes to a page that says the cart is empty. I'm doing work on the dual G5 powermac and will check with it when it's up properly.
