    Thank you for writing that up so well - and also well done for finding that meeting in Japan. Is / was there a Commodore 64 following in Japan?

    I've read that there was a huge VIC20 following in Japan but that the C64 for some reason never really took off.

    MSX was very popular there in 80s....

    The PC-88 (completly unrelated to the IBM PC) might have be even more popular in Japan. And it came out before the C64.

    Yes, the Japanese was very quick at adapting a sort of PC standard, but it only caught on in Japan.
