Posted By: hooligan. on 2013/3/2 14:25:27
On request, i decided to release a recent version of MAME. It's based on 0.148.
Amongst its features:

- Builtin MUI GUI with screenshots and history.dat/mameinfo.dat support and per-game configurations.
- Optimized triple-buffered display routines.
- Overlay support, offering free scaling and filtering. To avoid struggling with exotic screenmodes, MAME clones the Ambient desktop resolution when switching to fullscreen/overlay mode (unless specified otherwise).
- Blanker control
- AHI output
- Joypad / Mouse support
- ...

I'll try to have a look at MESS again (it's basically the same, just need to write a couple things for storage device selection in the GUI, IIRC).

    Hello
I have a problem with the new mame you released
I have a macmini 1:42 with 512 megs of ram (STILL unfortunately)
most of the games he says out of memory!
depends on whether the executable occupies more 'than 140 mega against only 40 megs of the previous version?
If I confirm that I need to 1 gig of ram procure me once and for all

Well, MAME got huge and it's not designed to be modular, not much to do about that, except having RAM...
I could build specific MAME builds for specific subsets of systems to reduce binary size, but only if there's demand for it (there are hundreds of systems, i can't do it for each, obviously).

Fantastic update! some roms work fine other no, but playing to some games is very fantastic, because the alternative to play with MAME is under Windows or Linux, but now under MOS.

Thought i'd give the latest version a go, and fired up Ghouls N Ghosts and hit a problem straight away I can't move Sir Arthur on my Joypad (logic3 pc power pad) I can use the buttons to jump, fire etc just no directional movement.

Downloaded the old version mame 0.97 and tryed the game again and was able to move Arthur around with no problem. Think The latest I can use is 1.13 without control issues.

Tried configuring the controls? (tab menu, controls general, or for this game)

Perhaps you can copy over the config file from older MAME?

Don't copy config files, format probably changed since.
Just go in settings for player 1 and bind buttons/stick/hat as you need.

I have an archive of about 6000 roms..none are recognized. I tried, for example, 1942.zip from my archive but MAME said some of the files were missing in the archive. I compared it to the 1942.zip that comes with MAME and its missing the same files.

My archive is a download I got a while back that comes with MAME for Windows.
