Software : : BlaBla on IRC (MomosIRC beta 2)
Posted By: MaaG. on 2012/10/16 8:17:07
MomosIRC is an IRC client for MorphOS. It is a new application, written from scratch, having MUI user interface. Due to incoming another break in the joyful creativity, the author decided to share the beta with users as is (with debug output turned on...). Not all features are implemented yet, but program is stable, and quite usable.

New features, compared to the previous version are:
  • almost complete rewrite of the program
  • new user interface
  • improved server communication code
  • increased stability and speed of the program
  • added several new features (text encoding conversion for example).

    Looks really nice.
I cant tell from the screenshot if it supports servertabs or not.
The treeview thing in one of the windows indicates that it should be possible.
If it does, id switch from wookie/amirc in a heartbeat.

    From another news site:

"MomosIRC [...] is a port of the IRC-client AiRcOS which was released for AROS some years ago."

Two must-have features are servertabs and query inside mainprogram. Screenshot shows query-window is detached from the main window which is baad baad baaaaaaad :)

Looking forward to try it when I get home though

In fact - first was port from AROS called AiRcOS. It was. MomosIRC isn't port.

No. MomosIRC can work on many various GUI layouts. You can switch it from prefs. You can work with list or buttons, on one window or more.. as you want, as you need..

Don't know if it is intentional but I had to manually save preferences. Use and Save buttons would be nice.

Also, not so important, when changing to buttonmode it seems restart is required.

I don't like "inteligent" programs.. then i prefer manual action for load/save current prefs.

You can also change layout mode before connect with first server. After then - you can change only for next/new open window/tabs. Then you can mixed varous windows.. if you need. That was idea of that.

It didn't mean any automatic saving like with Linux programs nowadays (if you meant that with intelligent comment), but traditional save, use and cancel buttons in Amiga style where you can clearly select what to do. I think it would be good to keep the consistency with our programs and support that scheme. Just stick those three buttons there instead that OK button... people don't know if that OK saves or just uses the settings.

Anyway, looks like a great IRC client. Maybe it will be an AmIRC replacement in the future, finally :)
